  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Knowledge of medical and dental billing and collections practices is required.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Familiarity with adult learning and general training techniques is required.

  • The candidate must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds on wheels.
  • The candidate must be able to hear staff on the phone and people served in person, and speak clearly to communicate information to patients and staff.
  • The candidate must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms, and clinical and administrative documents.
  • The candidate must have high manual dexterity.
  • The candidate must be able to reach above shoulder level and bend, squat, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, and twist or turn.
Responsibilities
  • Translate medical procedures into appropriate insurance billing codes.
  • Enter accurate information into the practice management system.
  • Produce statements and claims.
  • Bill insurance companies for services performed and patients for the patient portion due.
  • Collect correct insurance information from patients and verify patient benefits.
  • Investigate unpaid accounts and claims in a timely manner.
  • Maintain skills and knowledge of payer rules and guidelines to bill accurately.
  • Work closely with the Medical Billing Manager and other team members.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Professional Coder certification.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Bilingual ability.
