Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • At least 8 years of accounting experience focused on investments, including fixed income, derivatives, mortgage loans, alternatives, and structured products, is required.
  • Deep knowledge of multi-basis reporting across GAAP, STAT, Bermuda SFS, and EBS is required.
  • Experience processing large-scale investment portfolios completely, accurately, and timely is required.
  • Experience managing high-volume reconciliations across custodians, managers, and general ledger systems is required.
  • Leadership experience in SOX and internal-controls design and compliance for investment portfolios is required.
  • Experience presenting to executives, committees, auditors, and regulators is required.
  • Experience with automation and artificial intelligence adoption for high-volume reporting processes is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail are required.
  • Experience with Clearwater Analytics for investment portfolios is required.
  • Strong technical expertise in valuation governance, including fair-value leveling, stale-price analysis, and pricing overrides, is required.
  • Ability to connect results across legal entities, accounting bases, and reinsurance deals to treaty economics and capital management is required.
Responsibilities
  • Own day-to-day investment accounting and reporting processes across GAAP, STAT, Bermuda SFS, and EBS under the direction of the Vice President.
  • Ensure investment transactions, including purchases, sales, maturities, paydowns, coupon payments, repurchase agreements, and securities lending, are processed completely, accurately, and on time.
  • Oversee daily and monthly reconciliations of positions, trades, and cash across accounting records and the general ledger.
  • Investigate and resolve income, position, and valuation variances with clear documentation and root-cause analysis.
  • Execute valuation governance activities, including fair-value hierarchy reviews, stale-price monitoring, pricing analysis, and override documentation.
  • Support valuation committee materials, analysis, and follow-ups.
  • Maintain SOX and internal-control compliance for investment accounting and reporting processes.
  • Ensure documentation, controls, and evidence meet audit and regulatory expectations.
  • Contribute to the monthly close package and provide analysis and commentary on investment results by legal entity, accounting basis, and reinsurance deal.
  • Translate accounting outcomes into clear explanations for senior leadership, auditors, and regulators.
  • Support audit requests and provide timely, accurate responses for investment portfolios.
  • Drive continuous-improvement initiatives across investment accounting operations, including close efficiency, reconciliations, and reporting processes.
  • Use artificial-intelligence-enabled tools and advanced analytics to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of investment accounting processes, including reconciliations, variance analysis, close activities, and reporting.
  • Provide technical guidance, informal mentorship, and coaching to accounting professionals.
  • Manage and direct offshore resources to ensure consistent execution.
  • Coordinate workflow across teams to support close timelines and reporting deadlines.
  • Foster accountability, quality, and continuous improvement across the investment accounting function.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Certified Public Accountant designation is strongly preferred.
  • Public accounting or Big Four experience with insurance, reinsurance, or investment clients is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP and Palantir is preferred.

Fortitude Re's formation and launch of Fortitude Carlyle asia reinsurance, ltd. Conyers advised FGH parent, L.P. ("FGP", and together with its subsidiaries, "Fortitude Re") in connection with the structuring, formation and launch of Fortitude Carlyle asia reinsurance, ltd. ("FCA Re"), and its affiliated holding entities. Fortitude Re, a leading global reinsurance company, partnered with global investment firm Carlyle (NASDAQ: CG) to form FCA Re as a Bermuda-based Class E reinsurance sidecar, to support Fortitude Re's strategic expansion into the Asian life and annuity market. FCA Re has secured over US$700 million in deployable capital, including equity and expected debt capacity. In addition to Fortitude Re and Carlyle, equity commitments were made by a consortium of institutional investors including T&D Insurance Group, AllianceBernstein, Shinhan Life, and the National Pension Service of Korea (NPS). Fortitude Re will act as the insurance sponsor, while Carlyle will serve as the asset management sponsor. Upon full capital deployment, FCA Re is expected to contribute approximately US$10 billion in fee-earning assets under management to Carlyle. The Conyers team led by Jacqueline King advised on all aspects of Bermuda law and regulation relating to the structuring of FCA Re, the capital raised through both equity and debt financing, and obtaining the licensing and transaction related approvals to ensure FCA Re was licensed to reinsure initial flow and block reinsurance transactions from Fortitude Re related to whole-life products and fixed annuity products.
