Requirements
  • A minimum of eight years of experience in the design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities is required.
  • Working knowledge of advanced structural analysis software and computer codes such as STAAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS, SASSI, DYNA3D, or similar codes is required.
  • Sound working knowledge of applicable national codes and standards, including IBC; AISC ASD, LRFD, and N690; ASCE; and ACI 318 and 349, is required.
  • Ability to perform field walk-downs of structural systems is required.
  • Demonstrated capability to perform advanced analyses for normal-operation and accident-loading conditions is required.
  • Ability to work within SRR engineering processes, procedures, and programmatic guidance is required.
  • An MS degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, or a BS degree in Civil/Structural Engineering together with current registration as a Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, is required.
  • Understanding and proficiency with Microsoft Office business tools and technology is required, including Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, data analytics tools, and Visio is expected.
  • Employees must establish, manage, pursue, and achieve documented annual goals and objectives across the company's eight core competencies.
  • Employees are expected to support business development and related activities on behalf of ProSidian.
Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced structural analyses of various structures to validate design adequacy for normal operation and accident loading conditions.
  • Perform seismic soil-structure interaction analyses.
  • Perform dynamic seismic analyses using response-spectrum and time-history methods.
  • Develop in-structure seismic response spectra.
  • Evaluate structural responses for tornado wind loading.
  • Evaluate missile penetration effects.
  • Evaluate precipitation-related loading and effects, including rain, flood, and snow.
  • Evaluate explosion loading and structural response, including blast/detonation and deflagration.
  • Perform field walk-downs of structural systems as required to support engineering evaluations.
  • Provide engineering services in accordance with SRR processes and procedures and follow programmatic guidance provided by SRR.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the ProSidian Engagement Team.
  • Work a scheduled 40-hour work week under available 5/8, 4/10, or 9/80 schedules.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering is part of the BS-degree pathway.
  • Experience with multiple finite-element and structural-analysis platforms is desirable.
  • Professional engineering judgment, model development and validation, structural code interpretation and compliance, technical problem solving, and engineering documentation quality are valued competencies.
