Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • An Oregon Massage Therapist License is required.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within massage therapy is required.
  • Working knowledge of anatomy and basic physiology is required.
  • BLS HeartCode or CPR/AED Certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Administer massage and body treatments according to standard operating procedures.
  • Learn specialty services as requested by management.
  • Build a repeat clientele of five guests per week and actively participate in educational body skin care sales.
  • Perform massage therapy techniques to control pain, reduce stress, and promote relaxation.
  • Confer with clients about their medical histories and stress or pain concerns to determine whether massage would be helpful.
  • Apply finger and hand pressure to specific points of the body.
  • Massage and knead muscles and soft tissues to provide treatment for medical conditions, injuries, or wellness maintenance.
  • Prepare and blend soils and apply the blends to clients’ skin.
  • Provide guidance about postural improvement, stretching, strengthening, relaxation, and rehabilitative exercises.
  • Assess clients’ soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.
  • Develop and propose client treatment plans specifying the types of massage to use, and refer clients to other therapists when necessary.
  • Use complementary aids such as infrared lamps, wet compresses, ice, and whirlpool baths to promote recovery, relaxation, and well-being.
  • Consult with physiotherapists, chiropractors, physicians, and psychologists to develop client treatment plans.
  • Obtain clients’ basic medical histories, assess problems or conditions, and suggest appropriate massage techniques.
  • Maintain treatment records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of experience practicing massage therapy, preferably with an existing clientele.
  • A minimum of 500 hours of education.
  • Knowledge of two massage modalities, including Swedish, Shiatsu, Sports, Reflexology, Cranial Sacral, Deep Tissue, Aromatherapy, or pre- and post-natal massage.
  • A proven track record in delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Strong sales skills.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Knowledge of the latest developments in skin care technology.
  • Ability to perform at least two continuous four-hour blocks of massage services.
