Consigli earns eight honors from ENR for Project Excellence across New England region. August 20, 2026 BOSTON, MA - Consigli Construction Co., Inc. has received eight honors in the Engineering News-Record (ENR) annual Regional Best Project Awards for its work across New England, including recognition as the region's Best Higher Education/Research Project and for Excellence in Sustainability. Outside of New England, Consigli also received six honors from ENR for its work in New York. With 14 total recognitions, Consigli earned more ENR Regional Best Project Awards in New England and New York than any other firm. Seven different New England projects were recognized by ENR this year in various award categories and markets. In addition to the top awards for Higher Education/Research and Sustainability, Consigli also received project honors for its work in the K-12 Education, Office/Retail/Mixed-Use, Residential/Hospitality, Airport/Transit and Renovation/Restoration categories. Best Higher Education/Research Project: Crewe Center for the Arts University of Southern Maine Portland, ME Consigli delivered the University of Southern Maine's Crewe Center for the Arts, a state-of-the-art academic and cultural facility that brings music, visual and performing arts together under one roof. Built on an active campus, the project features a 200-seat performance hall, rehearsal and teaching spaces, and a central gallery that connects the university with the broader community. Exposed mass timber elements, advanced acoustical systems and high-performance building technologies support world-class instruction and performance while creating a welcoming destination for students, faculty and visitors across southern Maine. Best Project - Excellence in Sustainability: David Rubenstein Treehouse at Harvard University Office/Retail/Mixed-Use Award of Merit: David Rubenstein Treehouse at Harvard University Harvard University Boston, MA Serving as a gateway to Harvard University's Enterprise Research Campus, the David Rubenstein Treehouse is Harvard's first mass timber building and a highly sustainable conference center designed to foster collaboration and connection. The project reduced embodied carbon by nearly 60% through the use of mass timber and Massachusetts' first structural application of low-carbon concrete made with recycled ground glass pozzolan. An all-electric design, rooftop solar array, rainwater harvesting system and healthy materials program further advance the building's environmental performance, creating a welcoming destination that demonstrates a new model for sustainable institutional development. Higher Education/Research Award of Merit: UMass Amherst Computer Science Laboratory University of Massachusetts Amherst Amherst, MA The Computer Science Laboratories at UMass Amherst provides a purpose-built home for one of the university's fastest-growing academic programs, bringing together teaching, research and collaboration in a state-of-the-art facility. The approximately 100,000-square-foot building features instructional laboratories, classrooms, faculty offices and flexible student spaces designed to support innovation and interdisciplinary learning. As the university's first LEED Platinum academic building, the project combines a striking mass timber structural system with high-performance sustainable design, creating a welcoming environment that advances both academic excellence and environmental stewardship. K-12 Education Award of Merit: Henry K. Oliver Elementary School Lawrence Public Schools Lawrence, MA The Henry K. Oliver School transforms a historic 1917 schoolhouse in Lawrence, Massachusetts into a modern, high-performance K-8 campus that brings more than 1,000 students together in a single, unified learning environment. Combining the thoughtful restoration of the original building with a six-story addition, the project preserves the school's historic character while providing flexible classrooms, STEM labs, outdoor learning spaces and shared community amenities. Designed to support contemporary education and future growth, the new facility serves as a durable, inclusive and future-ready hub for learning and connection in the Lawrence community. Residential/Hospitality Award of Merit: 178 & 184 Middle Street East Brown Cow Portland, ME Located in Portland's historic Old Port, the 178 & 184 Middle Street project transformed two nineteenth-century landmark buildings into vibrant mixed-use destinations while preserving their architectural character and civic significance. The comprehensive rehabilitation restored historic masonry, windows, millwork and other original features while integrating modern building systems, accessibility upgrades and life-safety improvements. By carefully reconstructing the buildings from the inside out, the project breathed new life into longstanding community assets, creating retail space and hospitality accommodations that support the continued vitality of downtown Portland. Renovation/Restoration Award of Merit: Harvard University Wadsworth House Renovation Harvard University Housing and Real Estate Cambridge, MA The Wadsworth House Renovation Project restored and modernized one of Harvard University's most historic buildings while preserving its architectural and cultural significance. Originally built in 1726 and serving as the home of nine Harvard presidents, the nearly 300-year-old landmark underwent comprehensive structural, accessibility, MEP and life-safety upgrades, including the addition of a wheelchair lift, accessible pathways and modern building systems. Through careful restoration of historic woodwork, windows, façades and interior finishes, the project strengthened the long-term future of a treasured campus asset while making it safer, more accessible and better suited to support the university's administrative needs for generations to come. Airport/Transit Award of Merit: Logan Airport Remote Terminal at Framingham Massachusetts Port Authority Framingham, MA The Framingham Remote Terminal reimagines the airport travel experience as the first off-airport TSA security screening facility in the United States. Developed by Massport approximately 25 miles from Boston Logan International Airport, the facility allows travelers to complete check-in, security screening and pre-boarding requirements before being transported directly to Logan's secure airside terminals. Delivered using prefabricated modular construction on an accelerated schedule, the project provides a scalable, passenger-focused solution that reduces airport congestion, improves accessibility and establishes a new model for airport infrastructure nationwide. Project teams recognized by ENR's panel of judges were evaluated on their ability to overcome challenges, contribute to industry innovation and benefit the community, as well as overall excellence in design, construction and safety execution. Award-winning projects and teams will be honored at an event this December in Boston, as well as featured in ENR's November issue. Since 2020, Consigli has earned more than 30 honors in ENR's Best Project Awards across markets, categories and regions, as well as at the national level. Last year, two of Consigli's New England projects were recognized by ENR for excellence in Higher Education/Research and Energy/Industrial.

Across both the New York and New England regional divisions, Consigli earned a record-high 14 project honors. Five different projects were recognized by ENR this year in various award categories and markets in the New York region. In addition to earning four Awards of Merit in the Energy/Industrial, Government/Public Building, K-12 Education and Renovation/Restoration categories, Consigli also earned top honors for the Best Small Project and for Excellence in Sustainability. Best Small Project: The Jewish Museum, 3rd & 4th Floor Renovation and Expansion The Jewish Museum New York, NY Consigli transformed two levels of The Jewish Museum's historic Warburg Mansion into a reimagined exhibition and learning destination that enhances how visitors experience Jewish art, culture and history. The project created new gallery spaces and the Pruzan Family Center for Learning, featuring classrooms, studios and community gathering areas. The centerpiece of the renovation is a striking 52-foot-long glass display showcasing more than 130 Hanukkah lamps from the museum's renowned collection. Completed while the museum remained open, the project expands opportunities for learning, engagement and cultural storytelling. Award of Merit - Excellence in Sustainability: 611 W 112th Street Renovation/Restoration Award of Merit: 611 W 112th Street Columbia University New York, NY Columbia University transformed a long-vacant 1904 building into its first all-electric undergraduate residence hall, creating a modern, sustainable living environment while preserving the structure's historic character. Located within the Morningside Heights Historic District, the project restored the building's original brick, limestone and terracotta façade and reimagined the interior to provide housing and community spaces for students. Advanced energy-efficient systems, including variable refrigerant flow heat pumps, energy recovery ventilation, high-performance windows, smart building controls and a green roof, are expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 43% compared to a typical New York City residence hall. The project gives new life to a deteriorated landmark while advancing the University's sustainability goals and enhancing the campus experience. Energy/Industrial Award of Merit: 345 Hudson Decarbonization - Phase 2 Hudson Square Properties New York, NY Consigli and its energy division, Arch Energy, delivered a groundbreaking decarbonization project at 345 Hudson - a landmark, century-old Manhattan office building - by replacing legacy fossil-fuel systems with advanced electric infrastructure and energy-sharing technologies. The project introduced a Swedish-manufactured dedicated outdoor air handling unit, marking the first installation of its kind in an existing U.S. high-rise building, and integrated water-source heat pumps with a shared ambient loop system connected to neighboring geothermal infrastructure. Completed while the building remained occupied, the project serves as a model for how aging urban buildings can be adapted to meet New York City's ambitious sustainability goals and comply with Local Law 97, which sets strict emissions limits for large buildings. Government/Public Building Award of Merit: Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center NYC Department of Design & Construction Brooklyn, NY The Shirley Chisholm Recreation Center revitalized a long-underutilized portion of Brooklyn's Nostrand Playground into a 75,000-square-foot destination for recreation, wellness, education and community engagement. Delivered through one of New York City's first large-scale design-build pilot projects, the all-electric facility features a competition-grade natatorium, gymnasium, fitness spaces, classrooms, media labs and rooftop gardens. Designed to honor the legacy of Brooklyn-born trailblazer Shirley Chisholm, the center incorporates hybrid mass timber construction, green roofs, energy recovery systems and low-impact stormwater infrastructure. K-12 Education Award of Merit: Evergreen Charter School Evergreen Charter School Hempstead, NY Evergreen Charter School is an 89,250-square-foot educational facility that redefines sustainable school design while serving as a year-round resource for the Hempstead community. Among the first large-scale mass timber K-12 schools on the East Coast, the building combines cross-laminated timber, glulam, steel and concrete to create learning environments for 750 students. The school includes classrooms, a full-size gymnasium and a rooftop soccer field shaded by a solar pergola. A rooftop solar array generates approximately 44% of the building's energy demand. Since 2020, Consigli has earned more than 30 honors in ENR's Best Project Awards across markets, categories and regions, as well as at the national level. Last year, three Consigli projects in New York were recognized by ENR for excellence in K-12 Education and Restoration/Renovation, with the Alice Dodge Wallace '38 Center for the Performing Arts at Emma Willard School in Troy, NY earning the program's highest honor as the 2025 K-12 Education Project of the Year.
