FlyUSA opens 50,000-square-foot Tampa hangar to house 20 of its 30 regional jets

FlyUSA, a US private jet charter and aviation solutions provider, has opened a 50,000-square-foot hangar and owners-only lounge at Tampa International Airport. The hangar holds about 20 light, midsize, and heavy jets and has a tail door for aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 737. Twenty of the company's 30 regional aircraft are now based there. The site is FlyUSA's primary maintenance facility and will support about 30 employees. "The sheer size of the hangar should help accelerate our move into managing larger aircraft, because we have space for them now," said chief executive officer Barry Shevlin. FlyUSA aims to manage 100 aircraft and reach $500 million in annual revenue by 2032. It also holds a ground lease in Lakeland, Florida, where another 50,000-square-foot hangar could open in late 2028 or early 2029.

FlyUSA opens 50,000-square-foot Tampa International hub as fleet Growth accelerates. The new 50,000-square-foot facility brings FlyUSA's primary maintenance operation, dedicated ground services, and an owners-only lounge together while creating room for larger aircraft and future expansion. TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - FlyUSA, a U.S.-based private jet charter and aviation solutions provider, has opened a new 50,000-square-foot hangar and private owners-only lounge at Tampa International Airport (TPA). Depending on aircraft mix, the hangar can accommodate approximately 20 light, midsize, and heavy jets, and includes a specialized tail door designed for aircraft up to the size of a Boeing 737. It is one of the only corporate hangars in the region that can accommodate the newest jets from Gulfstream and Bombardier, including the G700 and the Global 7500. The move addresses a capacity problem created by FlyUSA's growing regional fleet. Before the opening, there was no single hangar or facility that made operational sense for the fleet. 20 of the company's 30 aircraft in the region are now based at the facility. The Tampa location now serves as FlyUSA's primary maintenance facility and will support approximately 30 employees. "The sheer size of the hangar should help accelerate our move into managing larger aircraft, because we have space for them now," said Barry Shevlin, CEO of FlyUSA. Hangar Infrastructure Is Falling Behind Aircraft Growth The expansion comes as newer business jets place greater demands on airport infrastructure. Sky Harbour has reported that hangar construction has not kept pace with the growing footprint of the private aircraft fleet, leaving some markets with lengthy waits for suitable space. The issue becomes more pronounced with a newer generation of jets. "The hangar shortage is still definitely an issue, and it's particularly bad for people buying the newest ultra-long-range aircraft like the Gulfstream G700," Shevlin said. "They don't fit in most hangars that were built more than five years ago." An Owners-Only Base, Not Another FBO Lounge The private lounge is reserved exclusively for FlyUSA aircraft owners. Unlike a traditional fixed-base operator (FBO) lounge serving passengers from multiple operators, the space includes individual owner lockers, a conference room, and other amenities intended to function more like a private club and working base. Charter clients will continue to arrive and depart through traditional FBO facilities. FlyUSA employees fuel and move aircraft based at the facility rather than relying on third-party line services, especially during high-volume periods such as holiday weekends, when multiple operators may be competing for the same ground-service resources. "In our facility, it's just us," Shevlin said. "Our owners are the priority. It just runs smoother." The facility also gives FlyUSA a way to attract employees looking for a longer-term career in aviation. Many members of its line team are working toward becoming FlyUSA pilots or maintenance technicians. "That career path doesn't exist at an FBO," Shevlin said. "Which is why we'll win the talent war on those teams." The location also required a more self-sufficient model. The hangar sits on the north side of Tampa International, away from the airport's two existing FBOs, so FlyUSA needed to handle fueling and aircraft ground movements directly. Shevlin said the company's experience operating Clearwater Executive Airport (KCLW) helped establish those capabilities more quickly, with the same facilities management team now supporting both locations. Tampa Becomes the Model for What Comes Next The opening follows FlyUSA's third consecutive appearance on the Inc. 5000 and comes as the company works toward a long-term goal of managing 100 aircraft and reaching $500 million in annual revenue by 2032. The company is also planning additional infrastructure beyond Tampa. FlyUSA holds a ground lease in Lakeland, Florida, where another 50,000-square-foot hangar could come online in late 2028 or early 2029. Shevlin said that facility would likely be used for longer heavy-maintenance checks, while Tampa serves as the company's primary maintenance and owner base. "We expect the combination of hangar space and owners-only lounge to be the blueprint for locations in other important markets," Shevlin said. FlyUSA launches $100 Million Jet Card Recovery Program for private flyers with stranded funds.

FlyUSA launches $100 Million Jet Card Recovery Program for private flyers with stranded funds. Sep 16, 2026, 15:38 ET Qualifying customers receive a complimentary FlyUSA Gold Membership valued at $4,995, pay as they go with no deposit required, and earn a 20% promotional flight rebate until they recover up to 100% of their verified stranded balance TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - FlyUSA, a U.S.-based private jet charter and aviation solutions provider, has launched a $100 Million Jet Card Recovery Program for private flyers who have lost access to prepaid funds held by other private aviation providers. The program makes up to $100 million in promotional flight credits available to qualifying customers without requiring them to make another prepaid deposit. Participants receive a complimentary FlyUSA Gold Membership, valued at $4,995, and pay for flights as they book them. They also receive 20% of qualifying FlyUSA flight spend in promotional flight credits until they earn credits worth up to 100% of their verified qualifying stranded balance, subject to program terms and limits. "Someone who has already had a significant amount of money stranded with a private aviation provider shouldn't have to make another six-figure deposit just to start flying again," said Barry Shevlin, CEO of FlyUSA. "We're not asking them to trust another company with a large prepaid balance. They can pay as they go, and we'll earn their trust one flight at a time." A Path to Recover Up to 100% The FlyUSA Jet Card Recovery Program is designed around a simple concept: customers who have already lost access to prepaid funds should not have to make another large deposit to continue flying. For every $1 of qualifying flight spend with FlyUSA, an eligible participant receives $0.20 in FlyUSA flight credits toward recovering the verified stranded balance. A customer with a verified $100,000 stranded balance, for example, could earn up to $100,000 in flight credits after $500,000 of qualifying FlyUSA flight spend. The program comes as prepaid funds are again drawing attention in private aviation. On Sept. 15, Private Jet Card Comparisons reported that private jet broker ONEflight International was pausing flights for at least 30 days, potentially affecting customers with prepaid balances. "It frustrates me that this keeps happening in our business," Shevlin said. "In private aviation, we would never accept leaving a customer stranded when they have an important trip. We should approach their money with the same sense of responsibility. As an industry, we can, and we must, do better." Building Trust Without Another Large Deposit FlyUSA developed the program for private flyers who may be reluctant to prepay another provider after losing access to a significant balance. Rather than requiring another large deposit, qualifying customers pay for flights as they book them. Customers then receive a 20% rebate in FlyUSA flight credits on qualifying flight spend. For example: * $50,000 stranded balance: Up to $50,000 in FlyUSA flight credits * $100,000 stranded balance: Up to $100,000 in FlyUSA flight credits * $250,000 stranded balance: Up to $250,000 in FlyUSA flight credits * $500,000 stranded balance: Up to $500,000 in FlyUSA flight credits "You've already been asked to trust someone with your money once," Shevlin said. "We're not asking you to do it again. Keep your money until you need to fly." FlyUSA operates aircraft under its own Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 135 certificate and provides aircraft management, private jet charter, aircraft maintenance, and 24/7 operational support. The company also sources aircraft through a nationwide network when a customer's trip requires an aircraft outside its managed fleet. "We believe private flyers increasingly want to understand what is behind the company they're trusting with their travel," Shevlin said. "FlyUSA combines the customer experience of a private aviation company with the infrastructure of an aircraft operator." Available Nationwide The FlyUSA $100 Million Jet Card Recovery Program is available immediately to qualifying private flyers nationwide. Customers do not need to make a new jet card deposit to apply. FlyUSA will confidentially review documentation establishing a customer's unused or inaccessible balance with another private aviation provider and determine eligibility under the program, including availability of remaining funds under the maximum aggregate limit of $100 million. Customers interested in the program can visit flyusa.com/jetcard-balance-recovery/, or email [email protected].
