About the job

Requirements
  • Have 5+ years of professional software development experience, including building complex, stateful web applications in TypeScript.
  • Have a strong command of modern declarative component frameworks such as Svelte, React, Vue, or Solid, and fluency in HTML and CSS.
  • Have experience with frontend performance work, including rendering large data sets and profiling.
  • Have product and design sensibility, with attention to how the product feels to use as well as whether it works.
  • Understand systems below the API layer, such as databases, networking, and how requests are served, to design realistic and fast-to-serve user interfaces.
  • Be willing to read Rust and make small backend changes; prior Rust experience is not required.
  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, low-process environment.
Responsibilities
  • Build and improve frontend interfaces for a search and detection platform used to query petabytes of logs.
  • Implement streaming partial results, virtualized rendering of large result sets, responsive interactions while data is arriving, and interfaces that make complex query syntax approachable.
  • Work primarily on UI development, with occasional work in the Rust backend such as adding an endpoint or tracing a bug.
  • Contribute to the product and its direction through work that impacts users.

About the company

Scanner builds a security data lake that stores all security logs for security operations teams and AI agents, providing an alternative to SIEMs by retaining every log and enabling fast search. It collects and enriches logs from cloud services, SaaS tools, and data lake/warehouse streams, with tools for search, investigation, detection and response, plus API access for AI agents. It uses schemaless indexing across the whole environment to enable fast full-text searches across petabytes with sub-ten-second queries, while offering open formats and lower ingestion costs to reduce vendor lock-in. Its goal is to ensure no cyberattack goes unseen because of an unseen log, by offering complete log retention and fast, scalable search for security teams and AI agents.

SVCI invests in Scanner to power AI-driven security operations

Scanner Inc. has secured investment from Silicon Valley CISO Investments (SVCI), an angel syndicate comprised of chief information security officers from major organisations. The funding comes as AI agents now generate over 80% of query volume on Scanner's platform, which provides fast search and threat detection for log data. SVCI members had been testing Scanner against real workloads before investing, providing feedback that shaped the product's development. The company's technology enables security teams to search years of logs instantly and run continuous detections across data streams. Scanner's platform is designed to support agentic security operations centres, allowing both human analysts and AI agents to query petabytes of data in seconds. The investment will help Scanner focus on developing infrastructure for AI-driven security operations.
