About the Job

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in a design engineering role on an EASA/FAA Part 23/25 aircraft development program.
  • Experience working within an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation or international equivalent.
  • Practical experience with the design and integration of aircraft powerplant systems.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software, preferably CATIA V5/V6, including part design, generative shape design, sheet metal design, assembly design, and drafting.
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical component design, aerospace materials, standard hardware, manufacturing methods, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and assembly and inspection requirements.
  • Understanding of design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly principles.
  • Ability to develop and assess installation designs while balancing functional, structural, environmental, certification, manufacturing, and maintainability considerations.
  • Experience collaborating with external development partners, engineering service providers, or aerospace suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach and attention to detail.
  • A high degree of self-motivation, resilience, reliability, and precision, combined with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Mature the propulsion system installation from concept through detailed design and release, integrating it into the aircraft digital mock-up.
  • Design and detail mechanical components, such as brackets, supports, interfaces, and assemblies, in accordance with applicable aerospace design standards and manufacturing methods.
  • Create and maintain complex 3D parts, assemblies, and installation models using CATIA V6 within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  • Prepare and release detailed single-part and assembly drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Oversee the documentation process to ensure all drawings are up to date and correctly integrated within the PLM system.
  • Assess system, interface, and certification requirements and translate them into robust and practical design solutions.
  • Develop installation solutions that account for structural integrity, environmental conditions, separation, accessibility, installation sequence, removal envelopes, inspection, and maintainability.
  • Perform engineering assessments and trade studies to support design decisions and system maturation.
  • Collaborate directly with external development partners and suppliers, providing technical direction, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring consistency with aircraft-level requirements.
  • Support the resolution of installation, manufacturing, and assembly issues arising during prototype assembly and aircraft integration.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering processes and standards and participate in design reviews to meet development and certification goals.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with electric aviation or electric propulsion systems is an asset.

About the Company

VÆRIDION

Electric microliner for regional air travel

Vaeridion develops electric regional air mobility using a zero-emission microliner designed to serve underserved regional corridors. The aircraft seats up to nine passengers plus crew and flies up to 500 km on a single charge, using a glider-inspired wing design integrated with batteries to minimize energy use. The service connects regional airfields that are within about 20 km for 80% of Germany’s population, enabling faster, cleaner travel compared with trains or long road trips. Revenue comes from offering these efficient flights to travelers who otherwise face time-consuming options, with a focus on business travelers who can avoid overnight stays and save time. Vaeridion’s approach differentiates itself by prioritizing energy efficiency and regional accessibility through a purpose-built, eco-friendly aircraft and a network strategy that links smaller airports to reduce travel time.
