Requirements
  • Relevant experience in non-payment or credit insurance, credit risk distribution, or a closely related field, gained within a financial institution, specialist broker, or insurer; relevant experience may include insurance placement or execution, portfolio management, corporate or structured lending, or trade finance involving credit insurance.
  • A good understanding of non-payment or credit insurance and its use as a credit risk mitigation, capital management, and distribution tool.
  • An understanding of credit risk, banking products, and transaction economics.
  • The ability to understand and analyse return on regulatory capital, risk-weighted assets and capital impact, and the economics of insurance transactions.
  • Familiarity with insurance policies or credit documentation and the interaction between insurance and the underlying transaction.
  • Strong analytical skills, including a high level of proficiency in Excel.
  • The ability to manage transaction and portfolio information accurately and work effectively with Middle Office and Monitoring functions.
  • Strong organisational, commercial, and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage transactions and workstreams independently while escalating appropriately.
  • The ability to coordinate effectively across Front Office, Risk, Legal, Finance, Methodology, Middle Office, insurers, and brokers.
Responsibilities
  • Execute and support non-payment insurance placements from initial market approach through insurer selection, negotiation, documentation, and closing.
  • Work with Corporate and Investment Banking origination and distribution teams to assess transactions for non-payment insurance and support appropriate insurance structures, considering insurer appetite, marketability, economics, pricing, and execution strategy.
  • Maintain a consolidated view of the Insurance Desk’s portfolio and pipeline, working with Middle Office, Monitoring, and relevant business teams to ensure insured transactions are accurately captured and appropriately managed after execution.
  • Support transaction teams in calculating and understanding insurance transaction economics, including premium, return on regulatory capital, risk-weighted assets and capital benefit, and relevant credit-limit impacts, coordinating with Finance, Tax, Risk, Methodology, and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Engage directly with insurers and brokers to obtain and analyse appetite, pricing, and capacity, and support negotiation of commercial terms.
  • Review non-payment insurance policies and related documentation to ensure the insurance appropriately reflects underlying finance documents and the commercial transaction, and coordinate with Legal where required.
  • Coordinate with Middle Office and Monitoring throughout the life of insured transactions, including policy administration, premium payments, amendments, waivers, renewals, restructurings, and claims, ensuring appropriate engagement with insurers and brokers.
  • Support accurate reporting of non-payment insurance activity, including transaction volumes, insurance utilisation, insurer participation, pricing and economics, and other relevant desk information; provide relevant management information to FI Risk, FI Coverage, CIB Management, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop relationships across the credit insurance market and maintain an up-to-date understanding of insurer appetite, capacity, pricing, and market developments.
  • Work across Front Office, Risk, Legal, Finance, Tax, Methodology, Middle Office, and Monitoring teams, providing practical support to transaction teams using non-payment insurance.
  • Contribute to the continued development of the centralised Insurance Desk, including execution processes, transaction data, insurer onboarding, reporting, tools, and relevant governance requirements.
  • Support development of junior Insurance Desk members through day-to-day coaching, knowledge sharing, and involvement in transactions, helping build their technical, analytical, and execution capabilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Practical experience supporting or executing credit insurance transactions.
  • Experience in transaction economics, risk-weighted assets or capital analysis, or portfolio oversight within a banking environment.
  • Experience working with corporate lending, project finance, leveraged finance, trade finance, export finance, derivatives, repo transactions, significant risk transfers, or other institutional credit or risk-transfer products.
  • Knowledge of Capital Requirements Regulation eligibility, unfunded credit protection, and regulatory capital concepts.
  • Spanish language skills.
