Responsibilities
  • Administer print and electronic course reserve services, ensuring instructional materials are accessible to students and providing timely support to instructors.
  • Support interlibrary loan and resource-sharing requests, provide frontline service at the circulation desk, and assist with department operations, student employee training, and library access services.
  • Oversee print and electronic course reserve services, including adding and removing materials and creating electronic records to build the Reserve Collection database.
  • Serve as the primary contact for instructors regarding course reserve materials.
  • Assist and advise faculty and staff on use of the Reserve Collection, ensuring reserved items comply with Copyright Fair Use or obtaining permission through the Copyright Clearance Center or by contacting individual publishers directly.
  • Pay invoices from the Copyright Clearance Center and inform the Administration of payments.
  • Compile and maintain the Course Reserves Procedures Manual to standardize policy.
  • Provide training on reserve procedures.
  • Train and provide direction to student assistants supporting reserves.
  • Gather and provide statistical data regarding reserves.
  • Perform circulation duties within the Access & Delivery Services department.
  • Provide frontline customer service at the circulation desk by assisting patrons with borrowing, returning, and renewing library materials.
  • Manage patron accounts, billing issues, overdue materials, and access-related concerns.
  • Open and close the library as assigned and help maintain the security of the building and collections.
  • Respond to user questions, assist with basic reference and directional questions, and guide users in navigating databases, conducting searches, and locating materials.
  • Process library holds.
  • Maintain an understanding of library policies to address patron inquiries.
  • Assist with training, supervision, and evaluation of student assistants.
  • Collect and monitor statistics needed for operational efficiency.
  • Under the direction of the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator, assist with processing interlibrary loan requests.
  • Process incoming and outgoing interlibrary loan requests in accordance with established library procedures and resource-sharing guidelines.
  • Retrieve, scan, copy, and prepare library materials for delivery to requesting patrons or lending libraries.
  • Receive and process materials borrowed from other libraries and ensure timely notification and delivery to patrons.
  • Communicate with patrons and participating libraries regarding request status.
  • Process renewals, returns, cancellations, and other routine updates associated with interlibrary loan transactions.
  • Support the library's mission, vision, and values.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the library's strategic plan.
  • Prepare, review, maintain, and assist with a variety of related reports, records, and documents.
  • Cooperate as a team member with library staff in performing duties essential to efficient library services.
  • Participate in committees and groups in support of implementation of the library's strategic plan.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and stay current regarding library-related practices, technology, and equipment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supervising student employees.
  • Experience in an academic research library or Access and Delivery Services environment.
