Requirements

  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without assistance.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and maintain reliable and prompt attendance.
  • Work in and be exposed to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as Drive-Up and carryout.
  • Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift, which may vary in length.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience.
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained in, and consistently delivers Target's guest experience commitments and consistent operations.
  • Observe team members, provide feedback, hold them accountable, and recognize strong guest experience moments.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take improvement actions, align the team on effective behaviors and execution, celebrate wins, and improve results and the guest experience.
  • With guidance from the direct leader, lead daily and weekly workload execution to meet department and store sales goals and guest engagement needs, including receiving products, merchandising, signing, setting and updating merchandise sales-floor displays, sampling, restocking shelves, organizing backrooms, and making price changes for General Merchandise areas.
  • Educate the team, with guidance from the direct leader, on how operational procedures for merchandise setup and organization, product accuracy and stock levels, and sales-floor maintenance affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
  • Assess reporting to identify gaps in General Merchandise processes and help develop a resolution plan for the direct leader to review and approve.
  • Apply expertise in operations, accuracy, process, and efficiency.
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, aligned with weekly and monthly business priorities set by the direct leader.
  • With the direct leader's guidance, help establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable.
  • With the direct leader's guidance, help deliver orders to guests by accurately leading pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work when applicable; assess fulfillment reporting, identify gaps, and help develop a plan.
  • Ensure products are in stock, available, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor while prioritizing guest experience; collaborate with teams and leaders, including the closing team, to identify priorities and keep the store guest-ready under the direct leader's direction.
  • Stay informed about relevant trends and products and educate team members by sharing Target communications through available tools and resources during team connection moments.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team as directed by the direct leader; model onboarding and learning best practices and help close skill gaps through development, coaching, and team interactions.
  • Identify team members for future leader positions and use growth development to build a talent pool within the department.
  • Support guest services, including backup cashiering and digital fulfillment, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
  • Value diverse voices and approaches, act authentically and respectfully, and create equitable experiences.
  • Follow Target policies and safety procedures, adhere to role-specific guidelines such as food safety and pricing, and help maintain a safe, compliant workplace by reporting and correcting hazards; lead and hold the team accountable to the same standards.
  • Model and promote a safety culture by recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, holding the team accountable to safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting and investigating injuries accurately and promptly.
  • Model physical security processes to enhance the in-store security culture.
  • Support merchandise protection strategies across the store, including ordering, storage, and application according to best practices.
  • When applicable as a key carrier, follow safe and secure training and processes.
  • Occasionally assume store-level leader-on-duty responsibilities during assigned shifts based on store needs.
  • Address store emergency and compliance needs.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.
