Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 5 years of manufacturing experience in the medical device or a similar industry is required.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, is required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with management, supervisors, coworkers, inspectors, auditors, and cross-functional partners is required.
  • The employee must be able to use a microscope and understand magnification levels for visual inspection.
  • The employee must be able to regularly lift or move 5 to 10 pounds, work with small parts using tweezers, and perform repetitive hand use, controlled grasping, and fine manipulation.
  • The employee must be able to walk, stand, bend, and twist regularly and possess close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must wear personal protective equipment as required in the working area.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the Quality Control department in a medical device manufacturing environment to ensure production quality, efficiency, and output.
  • Provide direct leadership to site operational Quality Control employees.
  • Train Quality Control inspectors and support their career development paths and company growth plans.
  • Manage and supervise Quality Control laboratory activities and equipment.
  • Use negotiation skills to drive alignment and resolve conflict.
  • Provide coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to guide the Quality Control team’s priorities.
  • Evaluate data, assess situations, and develop options.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of applicable Manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, and line-clearance requirements.
  • Audit employees and processes to ensure team members, products, and processes meet specifications and standards.
  • Provide timely performance feedback to Quality Control employees.
  • Maintain just-in-time and first-in-first-out methodologies to optimize production operations.
  • Analyze situations and use critical thinking to prevent or resolve production issues.
  • Ensure the team, production department, and processes comply with company practices and safety standards.
  • Communicate with the production supervisor and other production leads to coordinate production activities and share results.
  • Work with planning, quality, and engineering departments to prevent or resolve production issues.
  • Initiate and assist with processing non-conformance reports and investigation reports.
  • Ensure work areas meet the 5S methodology: sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain.
  • Manage the team to ensure all finished products meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Maintain a production environment that complies with quality standards and government-regulated standards.
  • Perform in-process inspections according to Quality Control work instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work in an environment that may be loud and cold while following required physical and personal protective equipment requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with coordinate measuring machines is preferred.

ZEISS launches DORC EVA NEXUS cataract system at ESCRS in London

ZEISS Medical Technology has launched a cataract-only configuration of its DORC EVA NEXUS ophthalmic surgical system. The system features a cataract grade selection with up to four programmable presets, allowing surgeons to optimise phaco, aspiration, and irrigation settings for each surgical step. SeeTrue's proprietary technology combines miniaturised sensing hardware with optimised embedded processing, enabling scalable eye-sensing capabilities with low power consumption and small hardware footprint. The technology supports gaze-based interaction and attention-aware computing across healthcare, industrial, and smart eyewear applications. The investment round includes participation from Superhero Capital and North Karelia Growth Fund, managed by Redstone Nordics.
