Requirements
  • An associate's degree is required, along with one of the following: completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences-accredited medical laboratory technician program; completion of a 50-week United States military medical laboratory training course with at least 60 academic credit hours including 6 hours of chemistry and 6 hours of biology; or at least 60 academic credit hours including 6 hours of chemistry and 6 hours of biology plus 3 years of full-time laboratory experience in an accredited laboratory within the last 10 years.
  • For Physician Enterprise roles, an associate's degree in laboratory sciences, including chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory studies, is required.
  • Medical Technician, Medical Laboratory Technician, or eligibility for certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology, National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel, American Medical Technologies, Department of Health, Education and Welfare, or another laboratory certifying agency is required.
  • Certification must be received within 180 days of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine tests in the medical laboratory under general supervision to provide data for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Ensure the validity and accuracy of test results.
  • Perform analyses ranging from routine to complex testing across all major areas of the clinical laboratory.
  • Create reports for laboratory findings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in an accredited laboratory is preferred.
  • For Physician Enterprise roles, Medical Laboratory Technician certification is preferred.
