About the Company

Public Citizen

Nonprofit advocacy watchdog for public interests

Public Citizen is a nonprofit advocacy group that represents the public in government decision-making. It challenges abusive practices across industries such as pharmaceuticals, nuclear, and automobiles, and it contests undemocratic trade agreements that favor mega-corporations. Instead of selling a product, it advances policy changes through research, public campaigns, lobbying, and legal actions to protect public health, safety, and interests. The organization differentiates itself by its long track record (founded in 1971) and its mission to prioritize citizens over corporate interests, operating as an independent watchdog rather than a for-profit or industry-aligned entity. Its goal is to ensure citizens are represented in the halls of power and to curb corporate abuses through informed advocacy and public accountability.
