About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or above is required; an advanced degree such as an MSc, PhD, or MBA and/or a life-sciences-related field such as biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or biomedical sciences is strongly preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of professional experience, with most of that time in quota-carrying B2B sales or business development roles selling to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology, or diagnostics clients.
  • A proven record of hunting and closing new business with enterprise-scale life sciences organizations in North America.
  • Experience selling knowledge, data, software as a service, consulting, market research, or analytics solutions to life sciences clients, such as expert networks, market research agencies, health economics and outcomes research, real-world evidence, or clinical/commercial data platforms.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles and negotiating significant contracts, including six-figure-plus annual contract values; multi-year agreements are an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology value chain from discovery and early development through clinical, regulatory, launch, and lifecycle management, and of how insight and information products support decision-making throughout it.
  • Experience with new-logo acquisition and expansion, cross-selling, and upselling within existing accounts, including developing land-and-expand strategies.
  • Previous exposure to subscription, software-as-a-service, or recurring-revenue models, including renewals and expansion of annual contracts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior scientific, medical, commercial, and strategy stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a high-performance environment, own a revenue number, and consistently meet or exceed targets.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and sound commercial judgment, with comfort operating in a highly compliant, regulated environment.
  • Proficiency with customer relationship management systems such as Salesforce and common sales enablement tools; strong command of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel, for account plans and client-ready materials.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly as client and business needs require.
Responsibilities
  • Lead life sciences new-logo and expansion efforts across North America, focusing on top-tier pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical technology, and diagnostics clients.
  • Own and execute a proactive hunting strategy to identify, qualify, and close high-value opportunities across priority accounts and whitespace prospects.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for the assigned book of business, including multi-year growth strategies, revenue targets, and action plans by stakeholder, product, and geography.
  • Build, manage, and convert a robust opportunity pipeline, maintaining discipline in qualification, forecasting, and deal progression.
  • Build and deepen senior-level relationships with directors, vice presidents, senior vice presidents, and C-suite stakeholders across research and development, medical, commercial, market access, strategy, business development/licensing, and insights/market research.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by explaining how the expert network, integrated solutions, and data and insights address clients’ strategic, clinical, commercial, and operational challenges.
  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles, including enterprise-level cross-functional agreements, multi-year commitments, and global or regional frameworks.
  • Prepare and deliver tailored pitches and proposals that demonstrate return on investment and differentiation from alternative information and research providers.
  • Define and own a focused North American life sciences territory and account strategy aligned with growth priorities.
  • Map key accounts, functions, decision-makers, budget owners, and influencers; identify expansion paths across brands, franchises, business units, and geographies.
  • Partner with regional and global sales leadership to prioritize opportunities, structure commercial constructs, and align pricing and negotiation strategies.
  • Work with project and client solutions teams to ensure delivery against client needs, including expert consultations, surveys, and integrated solutions.
  • Collaborate with research teams to identify emerging therapeutic areas, modalities, and technology trends for differentiated life sciences offerings.
  • Coordinate with marketing on campaigns, events, and content tailored to priority accounts and segments; participate in industry conferences and company-hosted events.
  • Engage legal, compliance, finance, operations, and information technology stakeholders to structure complex deals, manage risk, and enable scalable growth.
  • Act as a senior commercial voice on the North America Healthcare and Life Sciences team, sharing best practices and supporting the development of more junior sales colleagues.
  • Help define the future North American life sciences sales operating model, contributing to hiring plans, territory design, and go-to-market approach.
  • As the business scales, take on responsibility for managing a small team of hunters or business development managers while retaining direct ownership of key strategic accounts.
  • Maintain rigorous customer relationship management hygiene by logging activities, opportunities, and account plans, and provide accurate, timely pipeline and forecast updates to senior management.
  • Track and report sales key performance indicators, including pipeline coverage, win rates, sales-cycle length, annual contract value, expansion, and retention, using data to refine strategy and tactics.
  • Stay current on pharmaceutical and biotechnology regulatory developments, market dynamics, and competitors, translating these into commercial opportunities.
  • Travel regularly to client sites and industry events to build and reinforce long-term client partnerships.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree such as an MSc, PhD, or MBA and/or a life-sciences-related field such as biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or biomedical sciences is strongly preferred.

Allica Bank achieves unicorn status with $141M Series D funding round

Allica Bank has achieved unicorn status after raising $155 million (£111 million) in a Series D funding round, valuing the small business lender at $1.2 billion. The round included investment from Dubai-based Ventura Capital, which also backs Uber, Spotify and Zilch. The challenger bank, named City AM's bank of the year in 2025, has capitalised on the gap left by traditional banks withdrawing from small business lending. Digital lenders now account for 60 per cent of the market, compared to just 10 per cent in 2019. Last year, Allica reported an 86 per cent increase in pre-tax profit to £29.9 million as lending activity surpassed £1 billion. The bank recently acquired London fintech Kriya and aims to reach £1 billion in working capital finance over the next three years.
