About the job
- Hold current Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the state where applying to teach.
- Have 3 years of bedside experience with RN/BSN, or 6 years of bedside experience with an LVN/associate degree.
- Meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Vocational Nursing.
- Demonstrate current knowledge of nursing practice and broad knowledge of nursing sciences.
- Be able to mentor students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings and work independently without close supervision.
- Demonstrate successful handling of day-to-day operations in the nursing lab and current knowledge or experience in a clinical setting.
- Maintain current immunizations and Basic Life Support certification.
- Continuously improve instructional quality by reviewing and using innovative teaching methodologies and techniques.
- Demonstrate or acquire skills in using online activities to enhance course content during interactive teaching and learning.
- Assist with reviewing and revising syllabi for specific courses and instructional guidelines.
- Submit required program reports and forms to the program director on time.
- Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
- Maintain student attendance, grades, and skills check-off forms, and assist with program data collection by deadlines.
- Assist with updating and maintaining student files related to clinical requirements, immunizations, and educational requirements.
- Teach courses at various times and locations in response to program needs.
- Teach lecture content and clinical rotations, which may take place on weekdays or weekends, during days or evenings.
- Participate in professional development, maintain continuing-education hours for renewed licensure, and stay current with college updates.
- Participate in assigned committees as availability permits, prioritizing teaching responsibilities.
