Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience building production software, including at least 4 years in a startup environment and direct management of platform engineers.
  • Deep familiarity with high-throughput, data-intensive systems, workflow or automation engines, or AI-powered platforms in production, and experience managing full-stack engineers.
  • A track record of driving a high-performing team through clear priorities and sufficient process to support velocity and quality, grounded in metrics.
  • Technical credibility to lead architecture and trade-off discussions, review work, and earn the respect of staff-level engineers; fluency and a considered point of view on how AI tooling changes the way teams build.
  • Experience setting roadmaps and priorities in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, and judgment to decide what to deprioritize.

  • Ability to give direct, constructive feedback in a way people can act on.
  • Clear written communication for pull requests, Slack, planning documents, and cross-functional updates.
Responsibilities
  • Set clear team priorities and a roadmap, explain the business context behind the work, and translate it into focused execution.

  • Serve as the default liaison to go-to-market, forward-deployed engineering, customer experience, and other cross-functional partners; take on technical work alongside the team when useful without becoming a blocker.

  • Coach and develop engineers, set clear expectations for their roles, and provide timely, direct, constructive feedback.
  • Define service-level indicators and objectives for the team's systems and proactively address reliability and technical-debt issues to prevent incidents.
  • Own the Core Infrastructure team's health, direction, delivery, priorities, and coordination.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in Trust and Safety or abuse prevention, including understanding how attackers exploit platforms.
  • Experience working at the Product-Engineering boundary or in a customer-facing engineering capacity.
