About the job

Requirements
  • 7–10 years of experience in high-ownership roles such as general manager, founder, chief operating officer, or strategy/operations at a venture-backed startup, including direct experience running marketplace supply.
  • Experience owning a gig or flexible-labor supply pool and accountability for acquisition, activation, and retention metrics.
  • Experience owning a supply funnel end to end, from first touch to first completed job, against weekly targets and a budget.
  • Experience building budgets and capacity plans with finance and operating partners, then running a team against them.
  • Experience balancing supply against demand across multiple markets, cities, languages, or segments, and deciding when to throttle or scale.
  • Experience leading a team of operators or growth leads and working as a peer to delivery GMs.
Responsibilities
  • Build and lead Marketplace Leads responsible for contributor growth, including applications, approvals, and activations, and contributor engagement, including daily active contributors, hours per contributor, and retention; set team priorities and decide which initiatives receive attention.
  • Own supply for every production ramp. Work with each Data Operations GM and Data Product Operations Leads to shape the initial project budget, build the ramp plan within that budget, and agree weekly marketplace targets.
  • Run the ramp operating rhythm through weekly plans with project teams, pacing reviews, and early escalation when a language, project, or channel falls behind.
  • Advise executive leadership on marketplace scaling, including contributor segments to build, investment priorities, and supply needs for the next quarter's pipeline.
  • Own marketplace metrics and unit economics, including pool size, activation, retention, productivity, and cost relative to contributor output, by project and cohort. Partner with data science to select analytics to build and use them to guide scaling and investment decisions.
  • Allocate each project's marketplace budget between growth and supply. Allocate growth spend across languages and channels, including paid social, search, job boards, partnerships, and referrals, and hold the team to cost-per-activation targets.
  • Improve the contributor experience from initial application through first task and beyond by running controlled activation-path experiments, building a recurring contributor feedback loop, and addressing identified pain points.
  • Own cross-functional outcomes and partner with product, engineering, quality assurance, and payments to remove contributor bottlenecks, including review queues, project access, and payouts.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in AI training data, data labeling, or crowd-work and freelance marketplaces.
  • Experience recruiting a global, multilingual workforce across multiple countries.
  • Hands-on experience running paid acquisition through paid social, search, or job boards, or running referral programs for supply.
  • Experience with voice talent, creator, or other creative communities.

About the company

David AI runs a specialized data marketplace for AI applications. It connects AI model developers with data providers, allowing them to exchange high-quality datasets. The platform uses a bounty system: developers request datasets or data services, and providers claim bounties or list their datasets in a catalog. Revenue comes from transaction fees and possible premium subscriptions, with an emphasis on ensuring data quality, clear data rights, and fair pay for providers. The goal is to make it easier to obtain diverse, well-captioned datasets that improve AI model training and performance.
