Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, plus 15 or more years of related experience.
  • Understanding of system hardware architectures, design concepts, and engineering development practices; ability to use diagnostic tools to debug and troubleshoot failing systems to board level and boards to component level; characterize timing interfaces using an oscilloscope, logic analyzers, time-domain reflectometry, and other equipment; and test, debug, and bring up prototype boards.
  • Experience with Allegro, Valor, and other manufacturing tools used in the job.
  • Deep understanding of printed circuit board material and fabrication, their characteristics and influence on design, assembly processes, and technology.
  • Proficiency with design tools including Valor, schematic tools, computer-aided design, and other computer-aided engineering tools.
  • Experience leading and managing the end-to-end process for optical and regular printed circuit board assemblies.
Responsibilities
  • Provide new product introduction support for ongoing engineering from pre-concept commit through end of life.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop processes and technology supporting new product development.
  • Drive printed circuit board material selection and supplier discussions with multifunctional teams.
  • Manage bill of materials risk.
  • Collaborate with hardware and mechanical design teams to address design for excellence issues and ensure resolution before product release.
  • Drive and participate in design and manufacturing failure mode and effects analysis.
  • Provide leadership in driving product quality issues during new product introduction and sustaining phases.
  • Lead value engineering and cost avoidance efforts before production; engage early with Component Engineering, T&Q, GSM, and Hardware Engineering to influence component selection, process efficiency, and design changes.
  • Perform design lab experimentation, debugging, design of experiments, and engineering failure analysis.
  • Assess technical capability gaps within the contract manufacturer and supply chain.
  • Craft, analyze, and release product documentation.
  • Lead the technical lifecycle, including participation in defect reduction teams and new component qualification.
  • Provide design diagnostic analysis, input, and influence.
  • Lead debugging and board bring-up efforts.
  • Provide leadership and direction for complex issue resolution.

Cisco stock investors should watch 10% growth target outside AI business

Cisco Systems investors should focus on one key metric: growth outside AI infrastructure, which management expects to reach about 10% in fiscal 2027. Comparisons become tougher in the second half of fiscal 2027, gross margins face pressure from increased hardware shipments, and price increases contributed about 5 percentage points to recent revenue growth. The stock trades at 31.8 times earnings, above the S&P 500's 21.9 multiple, leaving little margin for error.

Cisco CEO tells workers uncomfortable with change to adapt as AI transforms $415B company

Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins has warned employees uncomfortable with rapid change that "nothing's going to feel good right now" as AI transforms the workplace. Internet2 and Cisco deploy AI PODs at two US universities to expand National Research Platform capacity

Internet2 is expanding the National Research Platform (NRP) through a partnership with Cisco, deploying new AI PODs at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Sacramento State. The AI PODs add GPU capacity that researchers can access when local resources are insufficient. The Cisco AI PODs provide pre-validated compute, networking, and management capabilities that can be deployed as standardised units. This approach reduces engineering and integration work required to add new resources to the platform. Combined, the AI PODs provide 8 NVIDIA H200 GPUs with 1.1 TB of GPU memory, 128 CPU cores, 2 TB of system memory, and 90 TB of NVMe flash storage. The NRP is a community-operated platform supported by the National Science Foundation and over 70 participating organisations, pooling computing resources across the US to give researchers access to capabilities beyond their local institutions.
