Requirements
  • Earned a Master's degree in speech-language pathology, communication sciences and disorders, speech-language-hearing sciences, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in speech-language pathology.
  • Be eligible for Texas licensure to practice as a speech-language pathologist in medical and/or educational settings.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter adequate for undergraduate instruction.
  • Demonstrate potential for effective instruction as evaluated by peers, the department head, and the college dean.
  • Have written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching.
  • Be able to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.
  • Submit a completed online application, cover letter or letter of interest, curriculum vitae or resume, at least three current professional references with full contact information, unofficial transcripts, and a teaching philosophy statement.
  • Applicants with degrees earned outside the United States must submit English-translated transcripts and an official credential evaluation from a recognized service.
  • Official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution before a letter of appointment is issued.
  • Be subject to a criminal history investigation and verification of credentials and other required information.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and laboratory offerings to undergraduate and/or graduate students, potentially including general education core curriculum.
  • Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, and papers.
  • Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
  • Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
  • Provide academic support and guidance through office hours, assignment feedback, and mentoring.
  • Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements related to teaching.
  • Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field, improve teaching skills, and explore new instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, departmental faculty, and university staff to coordinate course offerings, share resources, and contribute to program development and improvement.
  • Participate in institutional service roles, including division and college committees, advisory committees, student and faculty recruitment, and mentoring new and part-time faculty.
  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority.
