Requirements
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in software quality engineering, including strong manual testing experience and meaningful hands-on test automation work.
  • Demonstrated depth with Playwright, including suite architecture, flakiness mitigation, test data strategy, and execution at scale within continuous integration.
  • Practical experience using artificial-intelligence-assisted engineering tooling as part of a routine development or testing workflow, such as AI coding agents, AI-assisted test authoring, or AI-supported code and requirements analysis.
  • A strong foundation in functional testing, including test design techniques, risk-based prioritization, boundary and negative testing, and structured exploratory testing.
  • Experience contributing to or building test automation frameworks, explaining architectural decisions, and adapting solutions for teams at different automation maturity levels.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript, or comparable programming experience with the ability to become productive quickly.
  • Experience owning both manual and automated testing for an application, with sound judgment regarding the appropriate role of each in a hybrid quality-assurance model.
  • Working knowledge of defect and test management tools such as Jira, Xray, or equivalent.
  • Experience integrating automated test execution into continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills sufficient for test plans, defect reports, and quality summaries to stand on their own without narration.
Responsibilities
  • Assume full accountability for functional test coverage of assigned applications, including the user interface, service layers, and integration points.
  • Perform manual, exploratory, regression, integration, and automated testing across assigned applications based on risk, value, and maintainability.
  • Define and maintain the application's test strategy, determining which tests should remain manual, which should be automated, and how coverage should evolve over time.
  • Act as the quality authority for the application and provide evidence-based release-readiness assessments to engineering and product leadership.
  • Evaluate requirements, acceptance criteria, and design documentation to identify ambiguities, missing edge cases, and untestable requirements before development.
  • Create manual test cases and scenarios from requirements, then refine, consolidate, and prioritize them using engineering judgment.
  • Review implemented functionality, requirements, and the existing test suite to identify coverage gaps, duplicate effort, ineffective assertions, and divergence between specified and actual behavior.
  • Assess tests for automation suitability based on stability, execution frequency, maintenance cost, and exploratory value, and recommend automated versus manual execution.
  • Build and maintain Playwright automation, using artificial-intelligence tooling to accelerate authoring, refactoring, debugging, and long-term maintenance.
  • Operate automated suites within continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines while performing manual, exploratory, and scenario-based testing where human judgment is more effective.
  • Triage, reproduce, document, and drive defects to resolution using AI-assisted analysis to shorten root-cause isolation.
  • Produce decision-ready reporting on coverage, execution results, defect trends, and release risk.
  • Contribute to the organization's QA automation framework by extending its capability while ensuring it complements a manual testing model.
  • Design and implement automation solutions, including architecture, page and component abstractions, fixtures, test data management, environment configuration, continuous integration integration, and reporting.
  • Establish automation standards and design patterns that keep test suites fast, reliable, readable, and approachable for QA engineers building automation skills.
  • Lead by example through code review, pairing, and hands-on guidance, helping manual QA engineers build practical automation, AI, and technical testing skills over time.
  • Serve as a resource for the broader QA and engineering organization on practical automation, AI-assisted testing methods, and when manual testing remains the most effective approach.
  • Partner with software engineers, product managers, and DevOps to shift quality activities earlier in the delivery cycle.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code or a comparable AI coding agent.
  • Experience creating AI agent skills and custom agents and using Model Context Protocol servers, including building Model Context Protocol servers when existing tooling is insufficient.
  • API test automation experience across REST or GraphQL, including contract testing.
  • Experience helping a manual QA organization adopt automation, AI tooling, or modern quality practices in a practical and sustainable way.
  • Background in a regulated or high-reliability domain.

Pershing Square invests in Intercontinental Exchange after tracking firm for nearly a decade

Pershing Square Holdings has taken a new position in Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), a financial services and market infrastructure provider. Entrepreneur bought near-bankrupt firm from Buffett for $1,000, built it into $85B giant

Jeffrey Sprecher, founder and CEO of Intercontinental Exchange, purchased a failing company from Warren Buffett's MidAmerican Energy for $1,000 in 1997, despite Buffett having invested $35 million in it. Sprecher, who had no Wall Street experience, used it to build what would become Intercontinental Exchange. Starting in 2000 with nine employees in Atlanta, Sprecher lived in a 500-square-foot studio flat and drove a used car whilst building the business. He handled menial tasks like taking out rubbish and answering phones. Today, Intercontinental Exchange has a market capitalisation of $85 billion and employs over 12,000 people. The company has owned the New York Stock Exchange for more than a decade. Sprecher's net worth now stands at $1.2 billion.

ICE to acquire MarketAxess for $5.7B, creating integrated fixed income ecosystem

Intercontinental Exchange has agreed to acquire MarketAxess for $167 per share in cash, representing a total enterprise value of approximately $5.7 billion. The deal values MarketAxess at a 33% premium to its 29 July 2026 closing price. The acquisition combines MarketAxess's institutional fixed income trading platform, serving 2,100 clients across 90 countries, with ICE's retail bond marketplace and data infrastructure. Together, they will create an integrated fixed income ecosystem spanning execution, analytics, and settlement. ICE expects the transaction to be accretive to adjusted earnings per share in its first year. The company plans to finance the acquisition entirely with cash through newly issued debt whilst maintaining share repurchases, which will increase to $400 million quarterly. ICE anticipates $100 million in annual run-rate expense synergies within three years. The transaction, approved by both boards, is expected to close in the first half of 2027 pending regulatory approval and MarketAxess shareholder consent.

NYSE parent ICE targets $184B crypto ETF custody market with Digital Trust platform

The New York Stock Exchange's parent company, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), is promoting its Digital Trust platform to capture a share of the $184 billion crypto exchange-traded fund custody market. ICE released a white paper this week highlighting its NYDFS-regulated custody business, which features offline cold storage, multi-step approvals, and manual transaction reviews. ICE acquired the digital asset custody business in May 2025. The company positions custody as a strategic pillar of the digital asset economy, as every spot Bitcoin or Ethereum ETF requires a qualified custodian to hold underlying assets securely. The crypto custody industry is projected to grow from approximately $3.7 billion in 2026 to $7.7 billion by 2032. The push comes as Morgan Stanley announced Ethereum and Solana ETF launches on NYSE Arca this week.
