  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and an associate degree, or three to four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • The candidate must understand debits and credits.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel is required.
  • The candidate must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • The candidate must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • The candidate must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • The candidate must be able to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • The candidate must be able to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret bar graphs.
  • The candidate must be able to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • The candidate must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The candidate must hold a valid driver's license.
  • The candidate must be able to operate basic office equipment, including telephones, typewriters, a 10-key calculator, a photocopier, and a fax machine.
  • The employee must be able to use their hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear.
  • The employee must be able to sit frequently and occasionally stand, walk, reach with their hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move 25 to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must have close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements.
  • Reconcile several general ledger detail accounts.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual accounting reports.
  • Train and assist new accounting employees.
  • Provide training to new hires on accounting software during new-hire orientation.
  • Support compliance, portfolio managers, and upper management with challenging issues involving HUD and/or RD subsidies.
  • Post rent collections and adjustments as needed.
  • Review tenant activity in Boston Post and ResMan for accuracy.
  • Post rent corrections or adjustments in Boston Post and ResMan as needed.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, including checking cash balances for available funds.
  • Process daily manual and AVID checks.
  • Download miscellaneous bank statements.
  • Research bank and payroll journal entries for others.
  • Process security deposit dispositions and move-out packets in a timely manner, including reviewing required documents.
  • Set up bank transfers.
  • Post security deposit payments into accounting software.
  • Prepare and post various journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts.
  • Travel as required for in-person classes and annual education conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
