Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of the hire date.
  • Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant is required.
  • The employee must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • The employee must be able to bend, stoop, reach, stand, and walk for an 8-12 hour shift.
  • The employee must be able to work closely with others, work protracted or irregular hours, work around biohazards and infectious diseases, and work with hands in water.
  • The employee may be required to travel between facilities.
  • The employee must be able to communicate effectively with staff and patients, adapt to changing environments, use and learn software applications, organize and prioritize work, and work independently and in a team setting.
Responsibilities
  • Perform basic nursing skills under the direction and supervision of the practice physician, advanced practice professional, and/or registered nursing staff.
  • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, obtain initial information and vital signs, and prepare patients for provider visits.
  • Prepare exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and availability of supplies.
  • Assist with or perform examinations, tests, and procedures.
  • Schedule appointments and establish referral contacts as needed.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Educate patients about follow-up expectations.
  • Maintain required quality control testing logs.
  • Ensure that medical equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Assist patients with completing medical documentation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • One year of healthcare experience.
