Requirements
  • Five years of experience in HVAC control systems installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and related work.
  • At least two years of relevant experience operating, troubleshooting, and repairing Siemens Direct Digital Control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of airflow and Indoor Air Quality issues.
  • A current Refrigeration Technician or acceptable Massachusetts state trade license.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • DDC Control System Training and experience.
  • Experience operating direct digital controls diagnostic equipment.
  • Proficient keyboard skills and familiarity with Microsoft Windows-based computing applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed plans, specifications, operating manuals, and other written materials associated with this trade.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers and customers.
  • Ability to supply a complete set of hand tools.
  • Willingness to work in research laboratory environments and around hazardous materials.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and lift and transport piping and equipment in excess of 200 pounds with others.
  • Ability to push and pull heavy loads, stoop and bend for long periods, work on hands and knees and in other awkward positions for extended periods, walk between buildings carrying tools and equipment, work alone, and climb stairs, ladders, staging, lifts, and related service equipment.
  • Ability to provide a current address and telephone number as an ongoing condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, service, and repair HVAC control systems, including pneumatic, electric, electronic, Direct Digital Control, heating, and cooling systems.
  • Install, modify, and repair boilers, heating and cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Fabricate and install high- and low-pressure piping and ducting systems.
  • Interpret mechanical plans and prints and update them as necessary.
  • Provide responsive customer support throughout building maintenance and operations activities.
  • Assist and advise customers on maintenance solutions and follow up on work progress and status.
  • Perform other core trade skills and related duties as required.
  • Work independently or as part of a multi-trade team under the guidance and direction of the Area Supervisor or Working Foreperson.
  • Provide on-site support during emergency situations as Critical Operations Personnel.
  • Wear the required uniform and maintain a professional image.
Desired Qualifications
  • CFC Refrigeration Transition and Recovery Certificate.
