Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a specific area such as art, dance, nutrition, organized sports, or STEM education is required.
  • Experience in youth or camp programming, including at least 1 year of experience, is required.
  • Strong knowledge and skills within the relevant content area are required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
  • The candidate must be available to work part-time hours on school days and full-time hours on non-school days, including school holidays and summer.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement high-quality activities in assigned specialty areas such as art, dance, sports, STEM, or academic enrichment.
  • Collaborate with Group Leaders and other staff to deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate programming.
  • Implement lesson plans aligned with program goals and participant needs.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for participants.
  • Encourage youth participation, creativity, teamwork, and positive social interactions.
  • Ensure materials and equipment are used safely and maintained properly.
  • Support the total program as needed, including dining-room and indoor or outdoor activities.
  • Complete an end-of-school-year and summer-camp-session debrief addressing concerns for the following program year.
  • Interact regularly with children and staff and contribute constructively to the leadership team.
  • Communicate and work with groups of varying ages and skill levels and provide instruction to children and staff.
  • Identify and respond appropriately and quickly to emergency situations.
  • Provide oversight for a designated group of children and a specialized activity as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Exercise leadership over other employees assigned to the role.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree or college credits are preferred.
  • Teaching or facilitation experience with youth in structured program settings is preferred.
  • Interest in peer leadership or leadership of organized programming is desirable.
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish or another language is a plus.
  • Ability to engage and motivate participants of varying skill levels is desirable.
  • Ability to teach and enthuse others is desirable.
