About the job
- A minimum of a high school diploma or General Educational Development credential is required.
- At least one year of experience working in a residential, psychiatric, and/or medical setting is required.
- A valid New York State driver's license and a driving record meeting DePaul's clean driving standards are required.
- The candidate must be comfortable with medically related scenarios.
- The candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
- Respect and maintain residents' rights and confidentiality and demonstrate a positive, caring attitude toward residents, staff, guests, and service providers.
- Provide support and assistance with residents' daily living skills, including laundry, serving meals, and returning dirty dishes to the kitchen, due to their complex medical conditions.
- Observe, monitor, and document changes in residents' medical or psychiatric conditions and promptly report them to the site supervisor or primary medical provider when directed.
- Monitor and document residents' progress daily and conduct rounds at least once each shift, or more often when requested by the site supervisor.
- Support residents' medication use through prompts or reminders, update the site supervisor about medication-related problems, and report to healthcare providers when requested.
- Work with healthcare providers to ensure appropriate treatment is provided to each resident based on individual needs.
- Prepare meals and assist with meal preparation, heating, and delivery to residents at the table when needed.
- Work with residents and their care or support team members toward discharge plans for securing permanent housing, including following up on referrals for treatment, housing, and finances.
- Coordinate necessary appointments and arrange, schedule, or provide transportation as needed, including transporting people in the employee's own car.
- Maintain ongoing communication with medical providers, provide status updates on residents' medical conditions, and document accordingly.
- Assist with the overall upkeep of the residence, including taking out trash, shoveling snow, cleaning the yard, kitchen, and bathrooms, and vacuuming.
- Assist with laundering clothing, sheets, bedding, and other items as needed.
- Follow all health and safety regulations for staff and residents.
- Participate in necessary and relevant program trainings.
- Perform other duties necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the residence.

Pan-American Square Apartments wins Community Impact Award. SWBR Company is pleased to announce that DePaul Pan-American Square Apartments has been recognized with the 2025 Community Impact Award by the Buffalo/WNY Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. This award honors projects that make a meaningful difference in their communities through thoughtful, inclusive design. Completed earlier this year, Pan-American Square Apartments transformed a former rail corridor into a 150-unit affordable and supportive housing community in Buffalo, NY. Designed to Passive House standards, the development provides energy-efficient homes and essential services for seniors and individuals experiencing homelessness or mental illness. More than housing, it is a catalyst for community revitalization, delivering stability, sustainability, and hope for Buffalo's most vulnerable residents. Jury Comment: The integration of community-based programs and sustainable design at the Pan-American Square Apartments struck the jury. Exemplifying the criteria of the Community Award, the Pan-American Square Apartments took a holistic approach to senior living and supportive housing that will have a lasting positive impact on the WNY community. It is clear that this project will uplift and provide stability for the most vulnerable members of its community and the design team took every opportunity to maximize resources available to its residents. SWBR provided architectural, interior design, structural engineering, landscape architecture, and graphic design services for the project. The awards celebration was held Thursday, November 6 in Buffalo, NY.
