Requirements
  • A Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), licensed to practice in Ontario and in good standing, is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of community experience in nursing or Personal Support Services is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and highly developed organizational skills are required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge, including familiarity with scheduling systems, are required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders is required.
  • A vehicle and a valid Ontario driver's license are required.
  • Ability to manage coinciding demands is required.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability are required.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and assist the Manager with the clinical operation of the Personal Support Services program.
  • Act as a resource, support, and mentor to Personal Support Services staff by leading and coaching staff to attain individual and operational performance objectives.
  • Contribute to human resources management by supporting labour and employee relations, including performance development, management, and recognition.
  • Ensure Carefor policies and procedures affecting the delivery of Personal Support Services are implemented by Personal Support Workers.
  • Complete annual performance reviews on assigned Personal Support Services staff.
  • Identify and discuss with the Manager employee issues requiring disciplinary action.
  • Assist in determining the required staffing complement based on identified needs.
  • Assist Managers in the employee recruitment process by anticipating and monitoring staffing needs and initiating appropriate action to obtain and maintain an adequate complement of staff.
  • Participate in a regular after-hours on-call rotation to support urgent operational needs outside regular business hours.
  • Complete personal support care plans with new clients and update care plans as required.
  • Engage with service funders, primarily Ontario Health at Home Care Coordinators.
  • Participate in client case conferences and support resolution of identified service concerns.
  • Support orientation of new staff and provide ongoing staff training.
  • Use evidence-based best-practice guidelines and informational data to ensure successful team performance.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1 year of leadership experience is preferred.
