Requirements
At least 7 years of experience in hardware development, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong technical background in mechanical design, structural analysis, design for manufacture and assembly, and production.
Proven experience delivering large, complex hardware products from low-rate prototypes to full-rate production.
Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Bachelor of Science or higher degree in a technical discipline, preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Own the manufacturing and assembly of the building system, a proprietary kit-of-parts for building housing.
Own factory layout, equipment procurement, factory buildout, factory commissioning, and factory optimization.
Build and lead a team of engineers, manufacturing specialists, and technicians to design, build, and operate the manufacturing facility.
Collaborate with mechanical engineering and architecture teams to refine the kit-of-parts for manufacturability.
Obtain and maintain all necessary certifications and approvals for the manufacturing facilities.
Manage supply chain, quality, assembly, and delivery, and work with company leadership to hire for these roles.
Establish and track key performance indicators to understand how engineering and manufacturing decisions affect building quality and cost.
Manage the manufacturing budget and work with company leadership to project future capital requirements.

Bachelor of Science or higher degree in a technical discipline, preferred but not required.

As the Head of Manufacturing Engineering, you will be responsible for the manufacturing and assembly of our building system — a proprietary kit-of-parts for building high-quality housing.
What You'll Do
The factory is your product — you will own everything from factory layout, equipment procurement, and factory buildout to commissioning and optimization of the factory
Build and lead a team of engineers, manufacturing specialists, and technicians to design, build, and operate the manufacturing facility to produce our building system
Collaborate with mechanical engineering and architecture teams to refine our kit-of-parts for manufacturability
Obtain and maintain all necessary certifications and approvals for the manufacturing facilities
Manage supply chain, quality, assembly, and delivery — work with company leadership to hire for these roles in the near future
Establish and track KPIs to understand how our engineering and manufacturing decisions are impacting the quality and cost of our buildings
Manage manufacturing budget, work with company leadership to project future capital requirements
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in hardware development with 3+ years in a leadership role
Strong technical background in mechanical design, structural analysis, DFMA, and production
Proven experience delivering large complex hardware products from low-rate prototypes to full-rate production
Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills
Bachelor of Science or higher degree in a technical discipline preferred, not required
Compensation
The overall cash compensation for this position ranges from $180,000 to $250,000. All of our positions also offer a compensation package that includes equity and robust benefits.
