Responsibilities
  • Execute small research projects and research supporting strategic decision-making; prepare presentations and reports communicating research findings; and collaborate with senior management to implement findings for the global markets division.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Identify opportunities, develop business cases, and manage the deployment and launch of new products and services for the global markets division.
  • Manage client relationships, provide customer service support, respond to questions about products and services, and process transactions under steadily decreasing supervision.
  • Manage the development and implementation of financial models and strategies supporting decision-making in the global markets division.
  • Train and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Work on algorithmic trading strategies, research and develop models, or produce data analysis tools for valuation and risk management within a Quant team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Work in Markets Quantitative Analytics, Risk Quantitative Analytics, or Electronic Trading.
  • Use artificial intelligence tools in quantitative work.
  • Develop models, data science, analytics, software engineering, quantitative research, trading algorithms, client connectivity, automation, valuation, risk management, regulatory compliance, or electronic trading solutions.

Thales issues $1.1B bond to finance Exail acquisition

Thales has issued a €1 billion bond in two tranches to finance its acquisition of Exail, announced on 6 July 2026. The bond consists of a €500 million tranche with a four-year term at a 3.50% fixed rate, and another €500 million tranche with an eight-year term at a 3.75% fixed rate. The issuance attracted strong investor demand and was oversubscribed by a diversified investor base. The offering reflects market confidence in Thales's credit quality, rated A2 by Moody's and A- by S&P Global Ratings, both with stable outlooks. Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank served as global coordinator, with BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, J.P. Morgan, and others acting as bookrunners.

Housing Plus Group secures $1.2B funding package to invest in homes and communities

Housing Plus Group has secured £961 million in funding from five banking partners to invest in existing homes, deliver new properties, and strengthen communities. The social housing provider partnered with Nationwide, NatWest, Santander, AIB, and Barclays for the financing, supported by advisers Savills and Trowers & Hamlins. The package builds on £806 million of existing facilities, bringing the Group's total loan portfolio to over £1.3 billion. The refinancing simplifies the organisation's treasury structure whilst reducing financial risk and costs. Interim Chief Finance Officer Richard Nowell called it "a transformative moment" that improves financial resilience and creates capacity for customer investment. Group Chief Executive Wayne Gethings said the funding enables continued investment in homes and neighbourhoods whilst delivering new properties for future generations.

Barclays names Mike Joo and Adeel Khan investment bank co-CEOs

Barclays has appointed Mike Joo and Adeel Khan as joint chief executives of its investment banking division, effective February 2027 pending regulatory approval. Joo will join from Bank of America, where he served as co-head of global investment banking. He joined the US lender in 2006 after eight years at Credit Suisse, where he was co-head of Asia debt capital markets. He began his career at Goldman Sachs in 1995. Khan currently oversees Barclays' global markets business and has been co-head of the investment bank since 2021. He joined Barclays in 2008 and has over 25 years' experience in financial services. Previously, Khan worked at BlueBay Asset Management, running the firm's credit hedge fund. Both executives will serve on the group executive committee.

Winvia Entertainment secures $42M Barclays loan to fuel UK prize draw market consolidation

Winvia Entertainment has secured a £33 million three-year term loan from Barclays Bank, replacing its previous Eurobank facility. The AIM-listed company, which operates in UK prize draws and Romanian online gaming, also obtained a £5 million revolving acquisition facility with an uncommitted accordion option to increase it by up to £15 million. As of 30 June 2026, Winvia reported a net cash balance of approximately £31.8 million. The company is the second-largest UK prize draw operator by market share, running brands including Best of the Best, Click Competitions, and Rev Comps. The refinancing aims to support Winvia's consolidation strategy in the fragmented UK prize draw market. Chief Financial Officer Simon Hay said the arrangement establishes "a secure, long term capital structure with low leverage".
