Responsibilities
  • Serve as the single point of contact for customers across First United Bank products and services.
  • Connect with customers to understand their needs and match them with bank products and services.
  • Maintain knowledge of bank products, services, procedures, policies, the Bank Secrecy Act, privacy requirements, fair lending, Regulation E, and deposit, transaction, and loan accounts.
  • Follow customer-service procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Retain existing customers and develop new customer relationships.
  • Meet or exceed performance goals and participate in sales campaigns.
  • Promote new products and services and educate customers and peers within the bank.
  • Participate in meetings, bank functions, and customer appreciation or community events as assigned.
  • Provide customer service by greeting customers, building rapport, and generating customer loyalty.
  • Identify customer product needs through interviews and discussions of financial needs, and make referrals to other staff members and departments.
  • Open new accounts, certificates of deposit, and other ancillary bank products; answer questions; provide account-opening information; and complete and enter required paperwork in the computer system.
  • Assist customers with balance inquiries, temporary statements, check copies, stop payments, holds, online banking, automated clearing house transactions, automatic funds transfers, direct deposits, wire processing, coin processing, notary services, and privacy matters.
  • Process customer transactions quickly and accurately, including cashing and depositing checks, issuing money orders, savings bonds, traveler’s checks, and cashier’s checks, and processing loan and other service payments.
  • Maintain drawer limits and perform cash verifications and vault duties.
  • Verify transactions, place holds as appropriate, and balance the cash drawer at the end of the shift; seek assistance to resolve discrepancies.
  • Resolve customer complaints, problems, and other issues proactively.
  • Review and resolve account issues in insufficient-funds and exception reports, including assisting customers with account charge-off repayment plans.
  • Perform security functions by opening and closing the bank and vault and ensuring the safety and security of the bank grounds.
  • Perform other job-related duties and work in other areas to cover absences or balance workload.
  • Mentor employees in serving customers and matching their needs with bank products and services.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma is strongly preferred.
  • Some college education is strongly preferred.
  • Cash-handling experience is preferred.
