Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Deliver prescriptions to WVU Medicine patients and staff accurately, courteously, safely, and on time while following transportation criteria and pharmacy policies.
  • Deliver reports and supplies to clients and work with the delivery team to ensure items are complete, correctly packed, and delivered to the correct patient.
  • Perform technical functions supporting Outpatient Retail and Specialty Pharmacy operations that do not require a pharmacist's professional judgment, under the pharmacist's direct supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations intended to limit drug diversion, including collecting prescription hard copies and reviewing government-issued photo identification.
  • Assist with and deliver packaged pharmaceuticals, supplies, and equipment in a timely, safe, and accountable manner.
  • Plan and organize daily delivery services with pharmacy staff.
  • Collect patient information, verify the recipient's identity, obtain signatures, and collect payment information.
  • Maintain patient privacy under HIPAA and protect the security of Protected Health Information and couriered medications.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff to collect appropriate prescription and patient information before medication dispensing.
  • Verify that prescription orders are complete before delivery.
  • Handle and store medications properly, including refrigeration when required.
  • Meet customer-satisfaction expectations and anticipate customer needs.
  • Escalate unresolved or urgent issues to the Director or Manager, including inclement weather and company vehicle issues.
  • Handle customer complaints fairly and empathetically.
  • Restock delivery and shipping supplies in the AHS warehouse.
  • Notify purchasing personnel when supplies are needed.
  • Clean the vehicle and transport carriers daily.
  • Relay offers for counseling and additional information to patients or patient representatives and document acceptance or declination.
  • Maintain records of pharmacy items delivered and mailed, including prescriptions, supplies, and non-prescription medications, and maintain logs tracking the disposition of medications owed to patients.
  • Prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing the company vehicle or undelivered medications, except vehicle maintenance staff.
  • Work weekend call when required.
  • Enter the pharmacy proper only when accompanied by a pharmacist.
  • Follow state and federal restrictions on duties reserved for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy interns, including prescription intake, professional consultation, confidential information disclosure, medication checking, medication counseling, and direct medication handling, counting, and labeling.
