Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in object-oriented programming using C++.
  • Programming experience in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, including Amazon Web Services Elastic Compute Cloud, Simple Storage Service, and Lambda, as well as Google Kubernetes Engine, Google Store, and Cloud Functions.
  • Fluency in scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, or Python.
  • Ability to work with JavaScript Object Notation and similar structured document formats.
  • Experience with network programming and multithreaded programming.
  • Experience with Structured Query Language and relational databases.
  • Experience with open-source projects.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, unit tests, integration testing, and regression testing.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, test, and maintain the VDB Library, the Sequence Read Archive Toolkit, and related projects.
  • Participate in developing cloud-ready tools and pipelines to support sustainable scalability and enable use by collaborators and scientists in the field.
  • Learn new technologies, keep up with internal systems, and share knowledge with the team.
  • Lead other developers.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience working with genetic and biological data.
  • Demonstrated active involvement in open-source communities such as GitHub.
  • Experience in multiplatform development, including POSIX and Windows API.
  • Experience with containers, including Docker.
  • Experience with parsing tools such as flex and bison, and with designing and implementing domain-specific languages.
