Prysmian Cables & Systems

View

Prysmian Cables & Systems is the world’s largest cable manufacturer by revenue, producing a wide range of electrical and communications cables and systems. Its products include high- and medium-voltage power cables, telecom cables, and fiber-optic solutions. These cables are built from conductors (like copper or aluminum), insulation, shields, and protective jackets, and are installed in infrastructure for power transmission, distribution, and data networks. Prysmian’s fiber and cable offerings enable reliable data transfer and energy delivery across buildings, cities, and grids. The company differentiates itself through its global scale, a history of strategic acquisitions (notably Draka in 2011 and General Cable in 2017) that expanded its footprint and product breadth, and a strong focus on cash flow to fund growth. Its goal is to maintain leadership in the cable industry by providing comprehensive, integrated cabling solutions for energy and communications infrastructure worldwide.

Prysmian completes $3.8B Atkore acquisition, expanding US electrical solutions

Prysmian has completed its acquisition of Atkore, a US provider of electrical infrastructure solutions. It paid $95 per share in cash, implying an enterprise value of about $3.8 billion (€3.3 billion). The deal, agreed on August 2, 2026, broadens Prysmian's US range with Atkore's conduits, cable management systems, and metal framing. The combined business has more than 60 manufacturing and distribution sites across the US, and will target customers in data centres, utilities, and commercial and industrial infrastructure. Prysmian expects about $150 million in annual run-rate pretax synergies within three years. It expects high single-digit earnings per share accretion in the first full year, before synergies. Atkore becomes a wholly owned subsidiary, will be consolidated from November 2026, and will leave the New York Stock Exchange.

Prysmian to acquire Atkore for $95 per share in $3.8B electrical infrastructure deal

Prysmian S.p.A. has agreed to acquire Atkore Inc., a leading manufacturer of electrical infrastructure products, for $95.00 per share in cash. The all-cash transaction represents an enterprise value of approximately $3.8 billion. The purchase price represents a premium of approximately 30% to Atkore's closing share price of $72.96 on 31 July 2026. Both companies' boards of directors have unanimously approved the transaction. The combined entity will create a one-stop shop for electrical infrastructure solutions in North America, expanding Prysmian's product offerings and exposure to structural growth trends in electrification and data centres. Prysmian will fund the acquisition through a mix of debt, including hybrid bonds, and equity. The transaction is targeted to close by year-end 2026, subject to Atkore shareholder approval, regulatory approvals, and other customary closing conditions.
