Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid Texas driver's license and clear driving record are required.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices, and policies, including applying them in complex and varied situations.
  • Expert technical skills in operating HVAC, steam and chilled water, air, reverse osmosis, water softeners, and piping distribution systems.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems promptly, analyze information, and develop alternative solutions.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment during unexpected or emergency situations.
  • Ability to lead small projects or work groups and improve workflows.
Responsibilities
  • Execute operational and maintenance strategies for the assigned workload.
  • Forecast chilled water and steam load requirements based on seasons, time of day, and weather conditions.
  • Adjust, start, and stop plant equipment to maintain and regulate efficient thermal energy production while minimizing utility costs.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of equipment regulating chilled water, steam, air, water, and heating equipment distribution to buildings from a central distribution point.
  • Coordinate department workflow and recommend new processes as needed.
  • Direct and delegate work processes and best practices to other staff when needed.
  • Train and assist subordinate operators for the assigned workload.
  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing plant equipment.
  • Supervise the water treatment needs of chillers and boilers.
  • Direct preventive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain logs and departmental records.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
