Requirements
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in energy infrastructure, distributed energy resources, power markets, project development, infrastructure investment, or related commercial growth roles.
  • A proven track record of building a business line, asset platform, development portfolio, or commercial growth strategy.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including project finance, portfolio valuation, contract structuring, capital allocation, and risk-adjusted return assessment.
  • A solid understanding of distributed energy resource technologies, customer-sited energy solutions, North American electricity markets, and monetization pathways.
  • Experience originating, structuring, and negotiating complex commercial arrangements with customers, utilities, developers, capital providers, or strategic partners.
  • Strong knowledge of power markets, including energy, capacity, ancillary services, arbitrage, tolling, floors, and offtake.
  • The ability to assess market, technical, interconnection, permitting, operating, and commercial risks at a level required to guide investment decisions.
  • Executive presence and the ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence senior stakeholders, and represent Rodan with customers, investors, partners, and industry participants.
  • Experience in Canadian or United States electricity markets.
  • Willingness to travel for industry trade shows, conferences, and key business meetings as needed.
  • An engineering, finance, economics, business, or related technical degree.
  • The successful candidate must complete a background check, which may include a criminal record check and credential verification. Professional references will also be collected.
  • Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a practical assignment.
Responsibilities
  • Define and execute Rodan’s North American distributed energy resource strategy across markets, segments, products, and asset mix.
  • Set and deliver growth targets across pipeline, contracted megawatts and megawatt-hours, and portfolio returns.
  • Own financial performance, profit and loss, operating budget, forecasting, margin, returns, and capital efficiency for Rodan DER.
  • Own project and portfolio financial models to support pricing, investment decisions, and capital allocation.
  • Allocate capital across the pipeline based on risk-adjusted returns, strategic fit, and execution readiness.
  • Establish investment governance, including stage-gate reviews, go/no-go criteria, and executive business cases.
  • Develop repeatable commercial offerings.
  • Define pricing, risk allocation, and standard contract structures.
  • Lead negotiation strategy for key customer, partner, and financing agreements.
  • Build and manage a high-quality, execution-ready pipeline aligned with strategy and capital capacity.
  • Establish disciplined screening to prioritize high-value, financeable opportunities.
  • Own senior customer and partner relationships.
  • Lead capital strategy involving debt, tax equity, partnerships, and portfolio financing.
  • Manage relationships with investors, lenders, and strategic partners.
  • Build strategic partnerships across utilities, original equipment manufacturers, and engineering, procurement, and construction providers to support growth.
  • Track market, regulatory, utility, and incentive developments and convert them into growth or risk-mitigation actions.
  • Lead, build, and manage the Rodan DER team, including team structure, hiring priorities, capability development, performance expectations, and operating cadence.
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution with Finance, Legal, Engineering, Operations, Market Operations, Sales, and Executive Leadership to align priorities, risks, decisions, and accountabilities.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, commercial discipline, and execution excellence.
  • Provide executive oversight of the full asset lifecycle through development, contracting, construction readiness, commercial operation date, operational handoff, and ongoing performance management.
  • Ensure execution teams have the resources, governance, and clarity required to deliver contracted projects successfully.
  • Establish an asset-management cadence to monitor performance, commercial outcomes, customer obligations, market participation, and corrective actions after commercial operation date.
  • Manage key risks, escalations, and stakeholder relationships.
