  • Ability to make sound product decisions and maintain momentum when requirements, ownership, or technical constraints are still being clarified.
Responsibilities
  • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Business Applications core data platform, with clear priorities and measurable customer and business outcomes.
  • Set modernization priorities for data-platform reliability, scalability, extensibility, and supported access patterns, including clear platform contracts and investment choices.
  • Use customer research, partner input, and product data to identify the highest-value business data scenarios, then drive reusable platform capabilities rather than one-off solutions.

  • Define how Dataverse, Finance and Operations, and shared data-platform services should work together, including where storage, integration, extensibility, application semantics, and AI capabilities should converge and where product boundaries should remain explicit.
  • Set the product strategy and external positioning for data governance and lifecycle management across the core platform, including policy-based retention, archiving, safe deletion, recoverability, and administrator tools that help customers manage data responsibly at scale.
  • Shape storage economics and capacity-management strategy across the platform, including entitlement clarity, usage insights, and predictable customer paths for addressing sustained overages; balance customer outcomes, platform cost, and sustainable growth.
  • Partner with security, trust, and governance leaders to incorporate identity, authorization, policy, audit, and compliance requirements into core data-platform capabilities and supported AI scenarios.
  • Partner with product economics and business-planning leaders to develop commercial models, pricing and packaging inputs, and evidence-based investment cases for core platform capabilities.
  • Lead ecosystem strategy across Dynamics 365 and Power Platform product teams, Microsoft AI products, independent software vendors, and systems integrators; translate commitments into reusable data-platform capabilities and a prioritized engineering roadmap.
  • Partner with domain product leads to connect core platform strategy with application-specific administration, migration, lifecycle, compliance readiness, and customer outcomes.
  • Define and review the scorecard for platform adoption, reliability, storage efficiency, ecosystem usage, AI scenario success, and paid growth; use the evidence to guide investment and deprecation decisions.
  • Represent the core data-platform vision and roadmap with enterprise customers, partners, the field, and senior Microsoft leadership, and communicate tradeoffs clearly across technical and business audiences.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and 12 or more years of experience in product, service, or program management or software development, or equivalent experience.
  • Four or more years of experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market, such as design, addressing product-market fit, and launch, including internal tools or frameworks.
  • Six or more years of experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market, such as growing the customer base, expanding customer usage, or avoiding customer churn.
  • Six or more years of experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience, such as competitive disruption or replacing an established competing product.
  • Experience leading product strategy for enterprise ERP, transaction platforms, developer platforms, or other mission-critical business systems.
  • Technical understanding of enterprise data platforms, including storage architecture, data lifecycle, integration, extensibility, reliability, and operations at scale.
  • Experience developing commercial models, ecosystem strategy, or partner programs for data or platform products.
  • Experience with AI agents or comparable intelligent application patterns, including product and safety considerations when software acts on structured business data.

Microsoft offers buyouts to 60,000 staff as $175B AI spending raises questions

Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to about 60,000 employees, more than a quarter of its global workforce, as it tries to control costs and fund its artificial intelligence (AI) push. The offer covers eligible staff at level 70 and below in the US, Canada, India, and the UK. Microsoft forecasts about $175 billion in capital expenditures and finance leases for the 2026 calendar year. Staff working on Copilot and AI experiences are eligible, as are those in finance, human resources, Xbox, and Windows + Devices. Sean Campbell, chief executive officer of Cascade Insights, says Microsoft is falling behind in the AI race. He says a buyout could suit workers who want to reach the job market before their peers. The offer follows an earlier buyout to about 9,000 US employees and roughly 4,800 job cuts in July.

MT Newswires' real-time financial news now live in Microsoft Copilot via MCP

MT Newswires, a financial news provider, has made its real-time newsfeed available inside Microsoft Copilot through a Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration. It announced the move on October 27, 2026. Users can access company news, earnings, macroeconomic analysis, and sector insights within Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. Responses link to their sources, so users can trace outputs back to original reporting rather than generic AI summaries. The integration needs no coding to activate. It is available today across Copilot, with availability in Copilot Studio. "Our clients don't want another platform to check — they want answers where they're already working," said Weston Walker, global head of sales and partnerships at MT Newswires. The company's MCP server is also available in Anthropic's Claude and Perplexity Computer.

Xbox's new pay-as-you-go cloud gaming, from $4 for 10 hours, angers gamers over rising costs

Xbox has launched Cloud Playtime, a pay-as-you-go option that lets Game Pass subscribers buy extra cloud gaming hours once they hit their cap. Ten extra monthly hours cost $4, 25 hours cost $8, and 50 hours cost $12. Game Pass subscribers already pay between $10 and $23 a month for five to 15 hours of cloud gaming. Xbox introduced the cap in September; the service had been unlimited when it launched in 2020 as a cheaper alternative to buying games. Some gamers have criticised the change. YouTuber Yong Yea said the extra fees undermine cloud gaming's affordability argument. The move comes as Xbox cut 20% of its workforce, about 3,200 roles, amid slumping revenue from falling hardware sales and Game Pass subscription losses.
