About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience shaping digital products in financial services or another data-heavy, regulated field, ideally lending or credit.
  • A track record of learning a specialist domain alongside experts and translating expert knowledge into products customers use.
  • A track record of running discovery and co-design with customers or partners and turning findings into measured outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience building with AI tools and coding agents to prototype, including understanding their limitations.
  • Technical fluency to read a schema, reason about software as a system, and work with engineers on data models.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person university or college.
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery with banks and sponsors to shape the CRE deal platform, working alongside underwriting, credit, and lending experts.
  • Work directly with lenders on calls and real deals, ensuring their input and internal expert knowledge are reflected in the product while keeping institution-specific insights private unless broader use is separately decided.
  • Discover and validate CRE deal workflows from initial deal review through underwriting and the life of the loan, including capital stack construction, rent roll ingestion, portfolio surveillance, and deal counterparty visibility.
  • Use methods such as Jobs-to-be-Done and journey mapping to understand how originators and credit officers use workflows and agree with lenders on success measures.
  • Measure whether lenders make decisions faster and with more confidence and continue using the product.
  • Prototype and build alongside the team using AI tools, including methods to capture lenders' jobs and connect them to product definition.
  • Keep lender-discovery findings connected to engineering implementation, determining the boundary between what the platform can model and what workflows should expose for each capability.
  • Work with underwriting experts to define default system behaviors, including what the system asks or assumes, when it surfaces uncertainty, and what requires human judgment.
  • Work with underwriting and risk experts to determine which steps can be automated, which require review, and which must be decided by a qualified person.
  • Track changing model and agent capabilities, test them with lenders, and retire capabilities that no longer merit inclusion.
  • Provide discovery as a primary input to the platform product lead's vision and roadmap.

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to commercial real estate, lending, or credit.
  • Experience with data modeling, including schemas, graphs, or ontologies, and distinguishing durable concepts from one-off cases.
  • Experience writing acceptance criteria or tests for engineering implementation.
  • Judgment about which tasks to automate and which require a human in the loop.
  • Ability to turn specific expert guidance into product behavior with its rationale and verify that it works.
  • Familiarity with large language model-driven workflows and deciding when a model should decide, ask, or flag, including when users need to see its reasoning.
  • Experience delivering in environments where tools, markets, and plans change.
