What believers are saying

  • Texas Oncology and ACS launched I Love You, Get Screened across Texas in September 2026.
  • ACS secured a $25 million Duchossois gift on September 24, 2026 for Chicago.
  • October 1, 2026 survey of 33,000 women gives ACS fresh awareness-data authority.

What critics are saying

  • Hope Lodge Chicago still needs roughly $47 million after the September 24 gift.
  • ACS event fundraising stays fragile; October 2026 pages still sit far below goals.
  • If donor enthusiasm fades, ACS's philanthropy-funded model threatens research, support, and advocacy operations.

What makes American Cancer Society unique

  • ACS runs 31 Hope Lodge sites, with Chicago joining in 2027, unlike pure advocacy groups.
  • ACS combines screening guidelines, research, patient support, and lobbying under one national brand.
  • ACS moved 81% of 2026 resources to mission work, reinforcing donor trust.

Raiders team up for cancer screenings at West Las Vegas Library.

Raiders team up for cancer screenings at West Las Vegas Library. Posted: Oct 13, 2026 / 09:02 AM PDT Updated: Oct 13, 2026 / 09:02 AM PDT LAS VEGAS (KLAS) - As Breast Cancer Awareness Month moves on, the Las Vegas Raiders and American Cancer Society are teaming up to help the community make a Crucial Catch through cancer screening, prevention, and early detection. Good Day Las Vegas' JC Fernandez was live at the West Las Vegas Library for a preview of this year's Crucial Catch, which combines cancer screenings and health resources with Raiders-themed family fun. Angie Doyle, American Cancer Society Nevada Market Lead, was on hand to outline the breast, prostate, and skin cancer screenings available during the event. Doyle emphasized the importance of screenings in helping detect cancer early and explained how the partnership connects residents with services they might otherwise have difficulty accessing. The afternoon also offers plenty for Raiders fans. Fullback Connor Heyward, an American Cancer Society Crucial Catch Ambassador, is scheduled to attend, along with the Raiderettes and a few other Raiders surprises. These family-friendly activities will give visitors a chance to celebrate the Raiders while learning more about their health. JC then stepped inside Nevada Health Centers' Mammovan with Mayra Arteaga, the organization's marketing outreach supervisor, for a closer look at how the mobile mammography unit brings breast cancer screening directly to communities. The Mammovan has served Nevada for more than 25 years, helping reach women in urban, rural, and frontier communities. Arteaga also walked us through the screening process and said it takes about 30 minutes. This afternoon's Crucial Catch event goes from 3 to 5 p.m. at the West Las Vegas Library on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Mammogram appointments are scheduled from 8:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., with walk-ins available from 3 to 5 p.m. For mammogram scheduling information, call 877-581-6266.

Chevy's pink Corvette Stingray to pace Talladega and Martinsville NASCAR Cup races in 2026.

Chevy's pink Corvette Stingray to pace Talladega and Martinsville NASCAR Cup races in 2026. The Chevrolet division will pay $1,500 per Team Chevy driver who finishes in the top 10, along with $500 per caution lap led by its pink Corvette Stingray Published: 5 Oct 2026, 10:26 UTC - By: Photo: Chevrolet Only two NASCAR Cup races will be paced by the pink 'Vette this year. Chevrolet is expanding its Making Strides Against Breast Cancer donation program to five races, with the pink-finished Stingray now confirmed to pace the field at Talladega Superspeedway on October 25 and at Martinsville Speedway on November 1. That makes the 2026 running the most involved version of the campaign General Motors has put together for the Chevrolet brand's 16th consecutive year collaborating with the American Cancer Society. The automaker has wired the donations into race results, making this a lot more than a four-wheeled ribbon. For every Team Chevy driver who finished in the top 10 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Phoenix Raceway, Talladega Superspeedway, and Martinsville Speedway, the Golden Bowtie writes a $1,500 check to the American Cancer Society. There is a $25,000 cap across the five events, and there is also a pace car clause to be highlighted. More specifically, $500 will be given for every caution lap the pink car leads during the Cup races at Talladega and Martinsville. Think of it as the messier the race, the bigger the fundraising. A multi-car pileup at Talladega, therefore, can be seen as a charitable opportunity. Chevrolet has kept the price of the pace car's appearances competitive over the years, but the real money comes from elsewhere. In 2025, the automaker's overall breast cancer fundraising pulled in more than $1.7 million for the American Cancer Society. The NASCAR-specific portion of that was $32,500. Photo: Chevrolet The expansion that doubled caps in 2026 pushes the ceiling higher, and the campaign started before the Corvette turned a wheel in anger. Donations began accruing at the South Point 400 at Las Vegas on Sunday, October 4, with the Stingray itself waiting until Talladega on October 25 for its 2026 on-track debut. Martinsville on November 1 is the penultimate race of The Chase, putting the pink machine on track for the championship endgame. As for the car, this is nothing more than a promo build rather than a demonstrator of carefully selected options. Nobody can order the Stingray's exterior goodies from the factory catalog, with said C8 wearing custom Strides Against Breast Cancer graphics. Its pink ribbon outline runs across the rear quarter panels, while yellow accents add to the visual drama of the mid-engined machine. With the pink Corvette back on track and donations tied to five races, this year's campaign creates more opportunities to make an impact. 16 years is a long run for any automaker-charity partnership, and this vehicle has become the face of it. When the pink Stingray shows up, the ribbon graphics do the talking while the donation mechanics quietly work their magic in the background. Chevrolet will total the program's donations after the Martinsville race on November 1. Last year's campaign, as noted earlier, generated $32,500 of the $1.7 million raised overall. With the expanded format doubling the caps this time, the final figure will show whether the bigger structure actually translates into bigger donations for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative. Produce companies go pink for October.

Produce companies go pink for October. Oct 2, 2026 Two produce companies are promoting breast cancer awareness in October. Chiquita Brands International is teaming up with the American Cancer Society to launch its "Small Change, Big Difference" campaign, featuring its longtime icon Miss Chiquita as an advocate for early detection. The company will continue its tradition of replacing its blue sticker with its pink sticker on bananas worldwide. Other elements of the monthlong initiative include retail activations and instore displays, community events and educational content developed with nutrition experts. "Millions of Chiquita bananas carrying a special Pink Sticker travel around the world each October, but meaningful change goes far beyond what's on the table," said Andre Quadra, head of marketing for North America. "For years, we've used the reach of the Chiquita brand to encourage conversations around breast cancer awareness and support education and community engagement initiatives around the world. Reimagining Miss Chiquita in human form is the next evolution of that mission - transforming a familiar icon into a relatable advocate who can connect with women in a more personal way." Albertsons Albertsons Cos. and its Signature Select brand are partnering with Avocados From Mexico to support a nationwide breast cancer awareness campaign. The activation includes dedicated pink avocado displays and packaging throughout the month in Albertsons' produce departments. Additionally, Avocados From Mexico is donating $50,000 to Susan G. Komen, the nation's largest breast cancer organization. "The campaign is designed to raise awareness for breast cancer and encourage support for the important work Susan G. Komen does to fund research, support patients and advocate for better access to care," Albertsons said. Monica Watrous is the editor of Supermarket Perimeter, covering the latest trends and developments across the fresh grocery departments. She joined Sosland Publishing Company in 2013. American Cancer Society and Baptist Health announce partnership to expand cancer screening efforts.

American Cancer Society and Baptist Health announce partnership to expand cancer screening efforts. September 30, 2026 MIAMI, FL - September 30, 2026 - The American Cancer Society (ACS) is expanding its efforts to improve access to cancer screening and early detection in Southeast Florida through an exclusive partnership with Baptist Health. This effort focuses on breaking down barriers to screening, raising awareness about prevention, and helping more people access recommended cancer screening tests. "This collaboration allows ACS to expand availability of lifesaving screening and education across Southeast Florida," said Joan Gonzalez, vice president, Development, American Cancer Society. "Together with Baptist Health, we can reach more people with the information, guidance and tools they need to help prevent cancer or detect it early, when treatment is likely to be more effective." Through this initiative, Baptist Health plays an important role in the American Cancer Society's efforts to promote cancer screening and connect individuals with lifesaving resources. As part of the "I Love You Get Screened(TM)" campaign, community members can access education, tools and opportunities to engage with ACS programs and learn about cancer screening, patient resources and local care options. Data from the American Cancer Society shows that Florida falls behind the national average in some key cancer screening rates. Only 73% of Florida women aged 25 to 65 are up to date with cervical cancer screening, compared to 75% nationally. Colorectal cancer screening rates are also lower, with 66% of eligible Floridians aged 45 and up being current with screening compared to 69% nationwide. These gaps highlight the importance of ACS's work to increase awareness and education, connect people to convenient screening services, and reduce disparities in access to preventive care. "Prevention and early detection are among the most effective tools we have to reduce the burden of cancer and save lives," said Nancy Batista-Rodriguez, chief executive officer, Baptist Outpatient Services, Baptist Health. "That's why Baptist Health is committed to making preventive care easier to access and empowering people to take charge of their health. Earlier detection can lead to more effective treatment and better outcomes, helping build healthier communities across South Florida." Baptist Health, the largest health system in South Florida, continues to expand efforts to improve preventive care and increase cancer screening rates across the region, including through the establishment of the Dr. Herbert Wertheim Center for Cancer Prevention at Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute. Additionally, earlier this year, Baptist Health eliminated the requirement for a physician referral for screening mammograms, making it even easier for eligible women to access this important preventive service. Programs like the "I Love You Get Screened(TM)" campaign and local partnerships reflect the American Cancer Society's commitment to reduce cancer disparities, promote early detection and improve cancer outcomes for all. By combining national campaigns with local outreach, ACS is working to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
