The National Hockey League (NHL) has announced the opening of the NHL Innovation Lab, a simulated arena environment that will help the league office and its technology partners create tools for use by venue and hockey operations staff, as well as game officials, coaches and players. The NHL has worked on the Lab in partnership with Verizon and the New Jersey Devils, whose home arena, Prudential Center, will house the experience. The Lab will serve as a centralised space to explore practical applications of emerging technologies that support in-ice performance, game operations and fan engagement. Daktronics to develop new video display experience at Wake Forest University's Allegacy Stadium.

Daktronics to develop new video display experience at Wake Forest University's Allegacy Stadium. Daktronics announced that the company is partnering with Wake Forest University to create and install a new end zone video display, two side displays and an improved Show Control system at Allegacy Stadium in Winston Salem, North Carolina. The installation is currently in progress and will be completed before the start of the football season. "We are excited to continue to enhance the Best Fan Experience in North Carolina with upgrades to the Bob McCreary Video Board Honoring Class of 1961," said Wake Forest's Vice President and Director of Athletics John Currie. "Ravepubs is thankful for Bob's transformational gift that made the first board possible in 2011. Ravepubs is continually analyzing unique ways to improve both the student-athlete and fan experience. The main display will be 43 feet high by 90 feet wide and will implement an 8-millimeter pixel spacing. Variability content zoning capabilities allow the solution to display a single image or multiple pieces of content such as replays and live video or statistics and graphics. The two new side LED displays will replace the fixed ad panel, aiming to offer flexibility for advertisements and sponsor highlights through 43 feet by 15.5 feet display boards with 8-millimeter pixel spacing to match the main display. Daktronics environmental protection features aim to provide consistent operations outdoors. "Working with our partners at Daktronics, this new board will make an impact on our game-day experience, providing added flexibility while also helping us create and share new Demon Deacon memories inside Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium, starting September 3 on Opening Night against Akron." A complete Show Control solution with Camino will be included, aiming to provide the university with improved display control software, video processing, data integration and playback hardware. Wake Forest University will also receive a digital content package provided by Daktronics Creative Services along with the displays. "It's a privilege to continue our partnership with Wake Forest University on this exciting upgrade at Allegacy Stadium," said Corey Williams, Daktronics sales representative. "The new video board brings enhanced, dynamic visuals and engaging content to fans, while providing the capability for unique in-game content. We're proud to help enhance the game-day experience for Wake Forest Football."

Tech stack: Daktronics enhances MLB displays for new season.

Tech stack: Daktronics enhances MLB displays for new season. Audiovisual systems manufacturer Daktronics has supplied several Major League Baseball teams with enhanced LED displays ahead of the start of the new season this week. Daktronics has partnered with the Arizona Diamondbacks to design, manufacture and install the largest LED video display in Arizona and three ribbon boards at Chase Field. The video display in centre field will total nearly 9,600 square feet of digital canvas, a 52% increase over the previous Daktronics display and among the top 10 in size at major-league level. Chase Field now has more than 21,000 square feet of digital signage totalling 16.9 million pixels. The new main display will measure 63 feet high by 152 feet wide and feature 10-millimetre pixel spacing and variable content zoning. Meanwhile, the Seattle Mariners engaged Daktronics to enhance the digital display experience at T-Mobile Park. Daktronics has manufactured and installed an upgraded outfield video display, now named Mariners Fire TV, totalling more than 11,300 square feet. The size remains in the top 10 in MLB and remains around 56.5 feet high by 201 feet wide. Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, has been fitted with eight LED displays totalling more than 8,300 square feet. The displays are in left and right field, and will be complemented by two ribbon boards, two upper deck displays and two outfield wall displays. The physical dimensions of the displays remain the same, but the resolution has improved from a 13HD pixel layout to 10-millimetre pixel spacing, tripling the amount of pixels per square metre at a lower profile off of the display face for improved viewing angles. Daktronics is also continuing to work with the San Diego Padres to expand the team's LED inventory at Petco Park. Two tower displays as well as a video wall in the Lexus Club have been added to the ballpark during the offseason. The tower displays are installed high above the seating areas along each baseline, with each display measuring nearly 25 feet high by 22.5 feet wide. Madrid's Movistar Arena has entered into a partnership with transportation company Cabify. As the official mobility partner of the arena, Cabify will optimise mobility flows before and after each event by integrating advanced technological solutions within the venue's ecosystem. The alliance includes a prominent brand presence in the physical and digital spaces at the arena, as well as the joint development of initiatives aimed at improving the user experience.
