Requirements
  • Graduate from a Medical Imaging Program.
  • Possess a current radiography license as required by the state board where services will be provided.
  • Hold national certification as a Registered Radiography Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists according to the applicable state timeline.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Complete state and federal criminal background checks as required for regulated areas.
  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
  • Work around moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, body fluids, toxic or caustic chemicals, and electrical-shock hazards.
  • Possess interpersonal skills to communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict.
  • Demonstrate motivation and drive for continuous self-development.
  • Interact cooperatively with the health care team to support shared group goals.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain and prepare medications under direct physician order for procedures.
  • Observe sterile technique while assembling supplies for physicians and laboratory personnel entering the laboratory.
  • Continuously monitor patients' electrocardiograms and blood pressure, document activity accurately and promptly, and advise the physician.
  • Answer the cardiac catheterization or vascular laboratory phone courteously and identify the unit and oneself.
  • Coordinate the laboratory's procedural schedule and workload with patient demand and physician schedules.
  • Act as the laboratory's code team by initiating resuscitative measures and using cardiac defibrillators under the direct supervision of the responsible physician.
  • Document all procedures, use the established inventory-control system, bill procedures through the electronic medical record, and assist with inventory counts.
  • Escort patients safely to appropriate departments.
  • Apply electrocautery and ablation pads under physician supervision.
  • Instruct radiography students in clinical patient positioning, technique selection, equipment manipulation, and accessory-device use to obtain radiographic images.
  • Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data.
  • Prepare the procedure entry site using sterile technique.
  • Participate in departmental inventory management.
  • Check and prepare patients before procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Obtain Dysthymia course certification through WVU Medicine within one year of hire.
  • Hold Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Have one year of experience as a cardiovascular interventional radiologic technologist.
