Requirements
  • Experience operating manufacturing or automated equipment in an electronics or printed circuit board assembly environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with conformal coating processes and acrylic, silicone, or urethane coating materials is preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, travelers, and process documentation is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of IPC-A-610 standards, or willingness to obtain certification, is preferred.
  • Comfort working with ultraviolet inspection tools and precision equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Fine-motor coordination for handling printed circuit board assemblies and masking materials.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as required.
  • Must be eligible to access export-controlled technical data or technology under applicable U.S. export-control laws, or be eligible for any required government authorization.
Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and monitor conformal coating equipment, including selective spray, automated systems, or manual-assisted processes.
  • Load and unload printed circuit board assemblies, ensuring correct orientation, fixturing, and program selection.
  • Start, stop, and adjust machine parameters as directed by work instructions or process documentation.
  • Monitor coating application for proper coverage, thickness, and alignment during production runs.
  • Perform in-process inspections using ultraviolet light, magnification, or inspection lamps to verify coating quality.
  • Identify coating defects such as skips, bubbles, bridging, overspray, or masking issues.
  • Escalate quality concerns or recurring defects to leads, supervisors, or process engineering.
  • Support minor touch-up or corrective actions as trained and approved.
  • Apply and remove masking materials per work instructions before and after coating.
  • Prepare boards for coating by verifying cleanliness, masking integrity, and traveler accuracy.
  • Assist with demasking and post-coating handling to prevent damage to coated assemblies.
  • Refill coating materials, solvents, and consumables following safety and handling procedures.
  • Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain coating equipment, fixtures, and workstations in a clean and organized condition.
  • Label, store, and handle chemicals in accordance with safety and environmental requirements.
  • Complete travelers, production logs, and inspection checklists accurately.
  • Record lot information, machine settings as required, and any process deviations.
  • Communicate production status, downtime, or issues during shift handoffs.
  • Follow manufacturing instructions, IPC workmanship standards, and electrostatic discharge control procedures.
  • Adhere to chemical safety, personal protective equipment, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area.
