Requirements
  • A master's degree or higher from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation is required.
  • A minimum of 15 credit hours or equivalent in the assigned subject area is required.
  • In Georgia, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia, a master's degree in the discipline or a master's degree in any discipline with 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework relevant to the discipline is required.
  • Two years of practical experience in the course content area with a related degree, or three years of practical experience if the degree is in an unrelated field, is required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide a learning experience in the classroom, online, and/or in the lab under the supervision of the Dean of General Education, using lectures, demonstrations, audiovisual aids, and technological aids, and evaluate student achievement.
  • Keep students engaged in the classroom while following the established curriculum and syllabus.
  • Create a positive educational climate and establish and communicate clear objectives for learning activities.
  • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom or online, and observe and evaluate student performance.
  • Identify and refer at-risk students to the Student Success Coordinator.
  • Provide ongoing student advisement and academic counseling by tutoring and mentoring students individually when needed.
  • Grade tests and projects, maintain grade books, track attendance, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Administer oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Participate in ongoing conferences, seminars, and training sessions, including required education in-services and professional development activities.
  • Provide input and participate in academic committees formed to enrich programs and support students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • A minimum of three years of work experience as an educator is preferred.
