What believers are saying

  • FDA cleared pediatric PSi on July 27, 2026, expanding SedLine's clinical reach.
  • FDA cleared continuous DO2 monitoring on Root with LiDCO, deepening perioperative differentiation.
  • Danaher's deal promised over $530 million EBITDA in 2027 and $125 million synergies by 2031.

What critics are saying

  • Danaher owns Masimo now; autonomy disappeared and integration decisions can cut headcount fast.
  • Apple's redesigned watch survived import-ban challenges, ending Masimo's platform leverage against consumer wearables.
  • If Danaher mishandles integration, Masimo becomes a squeezed product line inside a larger portfolio.

What makes Masimo unique

  • Masimo's SET pulse oximetry remains embedded across major U.S. hospitals and surgery workflows.
  • Root, SedLine, and LiDCO combine hemodynamics, EEG, and oxygenation into one platform.
  • Danaher kept Masimo as a standalone Diagnostics brand after June 10, 2026 acquisition.

Masimo gains FDA clearance for continuous oxygen delivery monitoring system

Masimo has received FDA 510(k) clearance for Root with LiDCO and the Masimo LiDCO Sensor, enabling continuous monitoring of oxygen delivery (DO₂). The device combines LiDCO hemodynamic monitoring, noninvasive haemoglobin measurement (SpHb), and Masimo SET pulse oximetry to provide beat-to-beat assessment of oxygen delivery. The technology addresses a historical limitation in DO₂ monitoring, which previously relied on intermittent laboratory measurements of haemoglobin. By integrating cardiac output, haemoglobin, and oxygen saturation into a single continuous measure, the system offers clinicians real-time visibility into oxygen transport during surgery and periods of physiological stress. Masimo, a Danaher company, develops pulse oximetry and patient monitoring solutions. The clearance expands the company's monitoring portfolio by providing an integrated view of oxygen delivery to tissue.

Masimo receives CE Mark for AI-powered smartSedLine brain function monitor

Masimo, a Danaher company, has received CE Mark approval for smartSedLine, its next-generation brain function monitor featuring an AI-powered Patient State Index (PSi) algorithm. The device is designed to provide more responsive monitoring during anaesthetic induction and increased stability in low-power EEG conditions, which can occur in geriatric and critically ill patients. The smartSedLine continuously processes four real-time bilateral frontal electroencephalogram waveforms, generating key parameters to help clinicians assess a patient's anaesthesia state. The PSi index ranges from 0 to 100, reflecting sedation levels. The device builds on Masimo's brain function monitoring capabilities and forms part of the company's broader Brain Health Platform. SmartSedLine PSi will be available in applicable markets and is pending 510(k) approval in the US.

Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek writing tell-all memoir.

Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek writing tell-all memoir. "Behind the Castle Walls: My 30 Years at the Happiest Place on Earth" will cover the exec's "high-stakes maneuverings" that unraveled behind the scenes from his 2020 appointment to his subsequent dismissal in 2022 August 12, 2026 @ 2:31 PM Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek is writing a tell-all memoir about his life and career, including his three decades at the entertainment giant and the "high-stakes maneuverings that unraveled behind the scenes from his 2020 appointment to his subsequent dismissal in 2022." The book, entitled "Behind the Castle Walls: My 30 Years at the Happiest Place on Earth," will be released on Sep. 29, according to Simon & Schuster's Gallery Books, which serves as its publisher. Chapek's book is a collaboration with Don Yaeger. Chapek was elevated to the role of Disney CEO just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged the globe, forcing closures of the company's theme parks and cruise ships and shuttering live sporting events and film and television production, leaving thousands of employees out of work. Following a number of PR debacles, including his mishandling of the situation around Florida's "Don't Say Gay" law in 2021, a lawsuit by Marvel star Scarlett Johansson early on during COVID and the sudden dismissal of respected Disney streaming and television leader Peter Rice, Chapek was ousted from Disney and his predecessor-turned-successor Bob Iger returned to the company in late 2022. "Was he really given a fair shot or was he set up to fail? What drove his ousting and Bob Iger's return? What happened behind the scenes at Disney during COVID, and how did those decisions impact what we see today?," the book's description stated. "Four years later, after reflection and healing, Chapek is ready to tell his story, sharing what he hopes will be his true legacy. Even now, after everything, he's still a lifelong fan, and wants the magic of Disney to endure for generations." Following his ouster, Chapek joined the board of directors of the medical tech firm Masimo in 2024, but ended up resigning a year later. Meanwhile, Iger has stepped down from the Disney CEO role once again, handing off the reins to Josh D'Amaro, who succeeded Chapek as head of the experiences business.

Masimo gets FDA clearance for first sedation score designed for children's brains

Masimo, a Danaher company, has received FDA 510(k) clearance for the Pediatric Patient State Index (PSi), the first sedation score designed specifically for children's brain physiology. The technology monitors depth of sedation in patients aged four and older during surgery and intensive care. Pediatric PSi is the only index derived from bilateral brain data and indicated for use with both propofol and sevoflurane anaesthetics. The clearance follows clinical data from 169 paediatric patients showing the algorithm's effectiveness in tracking sedation stages and detecting burst suppression, a sign of potential oversedation. Masimo SedLine, first cleared for paediatric use in 2022, monitors brain activity through electroencephalogram signals from both brain halves. The technology addresses challenges in paediatric sedation monitoring, as children's brains respond differently to anaesthesia than adults'.
