Burlington coming to California, taking over former Bed Bath & Beyond space.

Burlington coming to California, taking over former Bed Bath & Beyond space. The retailer is slated to fill the former Bed Bath & Beyond space, adding clothing, accessories and home goods to the center's shopping mix. CALIFORNIA, Md. - Shoppers searching for a new outfit, a seasonal home refresh or an unexpected bargain could soon have another stop in Wildewood Center. Burlington is identified as a newly signed tenant in leasing materials published by commercial real estate brokerage KLNB, signaling a new chapter for the shopping center's former Bed Bath & Beyond space. The brochure features Burlington's logo alongside the words "JUST SIGNED" and lists the retailer in unit 2010, a 23,400-square-foot space between JCPenney and DSW. Wildewood Center is at 23415 Three Notch Road. For shoppers, the draw extends beyond the coats long associated with the Burlington name. According to the company's website, the off-price retailer offers merchandise for the entire family and home, with departments including clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories, beauty products, baby items and home goods. That mix could make the planned location a stop for everything from updating a wardrobe to finding a finishing touch for a room. Its placement would also put another browsing destination within the same center as JCPenney, DSW, Belk and Ulta Beauty - giving shoppers more opportunities to turn a single errand into an afternoon of exploring the racks. Those retailers are listed in KLNB's tenant directory. Shoppers will have to wait a little longer to mark their calendars, however. KLNB's brochure does not provide an opening date or construction schedule, and Burlington's official Maryland store directory did not list a California location when checked for this article. A grand opening date has not been independently confirmed. Got a tip or photo? Text The Baynet at 888-871-NEWS (6397) or email [email protected].

Burlington to open in the Gessner Center.

Burlington to open in the Gessner Center. Burlington is planned to open next summer. Published Date: October 23, 2026, 1:38 AM EDT Burlington is working on another Houston opening. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation permit, the national off-price retailer is planning to open a store in the Gessner Center at 8201 S. Gessner Dr. The permit further states that construction for the new Burlington store is expected to start in early February next year and wrap up by early August 2027. If permitting goes smoothly and the estimated $750,000 construction project stays on track, the new Burlington should open in the Gessner Center by next Summer. Julie Charo was listed on the permit. What Now Houston reached out to Charo and Burlington's Houston Operations Manager, Rashaan Dennis, to find out more about the upcoming opening. Unfortunately, Whatnow Media Group did not hear back from either by the time of this publication. "We are a growing company dedicated to providing great merchandise values to people nationwide," the company's website read. "We are bound to open a new store in your area. Come shop us and see what all the excitement is about. Do not miss out on the great deals near you!" Burlington (originally known as Burlington Coat Factory) began in 1972 when founders Monroe and Henrietta Milstein purchased a former dress factory in Burlington, New Jersey, using $75,000 from Henrietta's savings. The store initially sold discounted, first-quality coats and outerwear bought in bulk directly from manufacturers. By the late 1970s and 1980s, the company expanded its inventory to include sportswear, suits, children's apparel, and home goods. Milstein took the company public for the first time with an initial public offering (IPO) in June 1983. By 1990, sales surpassed $600 million, and by 1994 the chain had more than 180 stores across dozens of states and reached $1 billion in sales. "For over half a century, we have been delivering value to our customers, associates and our communities," the Burlington website reads. "With our every day low prices on top brand name merchandise for the entire family and home, combined with our dedication to our thousands of associates nationwide and our ability to make an impact in the communities where we live and work, Burlington is proud to be an award-winning off-price retailer." Headquartered in Burlington Township, New Jersey, the company now operates more than 1,200 Burlington stores across 47 states and Puerto Rico, ranking as the third-largest off-price retailer in the United States behind TJX (TJ Maxx/Marshalls) and Ross Stores. There are about 164 Burlington stores in Texas, with at least 35 stores in the Greater Houston region. What Now also reached out to Burlington President and COO Travis Marquette to learn more about expansion plans. But Marquette did not get back to Whatnow Media Group by the time of this publication. Burlington is anticipated to open in the Gessner Center at 8201 S. Gessner Dr. by next Summer. (This is a developing story.
