About the job
- Familiarity with and exposure to power distribution design.
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling preventive maintenance for equipment.
- Knowledge of maintaining and troubleshooting machines, including furnaces, rolling mills, and slitters.
- Working knowledge and programming skills for programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and digital drives.
- Familiarity with electrical software systems and languages.
- Experience with AC/DC systems, the National Electrical Code, standards, and acceptable industry practices.
- Experience working in the electrical maintenance field and in a union environment.
- Seven to ten years of experience as an Electrical Engineer.
- A B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Willingness to occasionally work off-shifts and weekends, if required.
- Willingness to travel when needed.
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and potentially in wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, high noise, and extremely dusty environments.
- Lead electrical engineering projects to ensure timely, high-quality, cost-effective, and safe completion, with a focus on reliability, reduced machine and system downtime, and operational efficiency.
- Provide project management leadership for design, construction supervision, and installation of major and minor equipment modifications across projects of varying size.
- Provide engineering oversight of plant infrastructure repairs and new installations.
- Manage projects involving high-voltage electrical power distribution and substation maintenance.
- Develop requirements for new or replacement equipment, define the scope of work, and create project plans.
- Execute project plans to meet budgets and schedules.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and program dated and sophisticated machinery drives and controls.
- Monitor, maintain, and upgrade power distribution systems.
- Coordinate, plan, and communicate with all levels of the Maintenance and Engineering organizations, vendors, and contractors.
- An M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Project management experience.
- Experience with Lean, Behavior-Based Safety, reliability, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Superior engineering skills and experience in a heavy industrial environment.
