Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, law, or a related field is required.
  • Must be a certified investigator through the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI), or be able to obtain the designation within one year.
  • At least six years of experience in an Employee Relations role, including solving complex investigations, coaching managers and employees, and experience in a highly regulated industry or large-scale organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws governing investigations and related personnel matters.
  • Advanced knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Employment Opportunity, Family and Medical Leave Act, Title VII, and related statutes.
  • Ability to recognize and define problems, gather and analyze complex data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to maintain integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in a wide variety of situations.
  • Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Expertise in investigative methodologies, including witness interviewing, credibility assessment, and report writing.
  • Advanced conflict-resolution skills and a proven track record of resolving high-stakes employee relations issues.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct high-profile and complex employee relations investigations, including workplace harassment, discrimination, retaliation, sexual misconduct, violence, and theft, with discretion and sensitivity.
  • Conduct thorough, professional, and efficient interviews with accused individuals, witnesses, and reporting persons to obtain facts for decision-making.
  • Synthesize investigative findings into detailed reports and provide data-driven recommendations for corrective action and policy enhancements.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential records of investigation activities, ensuring data integrity and compliance with record-keeping standards in the case management system.
  • Ensure investigative processes comply with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and advise Human Resources leadership, legal counsel, and management on complex employee relations issues.
  • Design and implement training programs focused on investigative techniques and processes, legal compliance, and conflict resolution.
  • Use analytical tools to identify and report trends in employee relations issues and recommend strategic interventions to mitigate risk.
  • Mentor junior team members to foster skill development and knowledge transfer.
  • Confer with the Office of the General Counsel regarding the company’s response to Civil Rights complaints and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission charges.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in judicial proceedings when called upon.
  • Review complex disciplinary actions for compliance with company policies and procedures and to mitigate risk associated with employment actions.
  • Lead and support employee relations processes, including reduction-in-force and job-reassignment actions.
  • Serve in one or more assigned facets of the position: investigator, team lead who mentors the team and approves work items such as disciplinary items, or project lead for two or more major employee relations processes such as job elimination and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission work.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree, specifically a master's degree in Human Resources or a Juris Doctor.
  • A Human Resources certification such as Professional in Human Resources, Senior Professional in Human Resources, Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional, or Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional.
  • Knowledge of ACG personnel policies and procedures.
