Requirements
  • Minimum of four years of nursing experience in a patient-care setting of which a minimum of two years is recent critical care nursing experience OR a minimum one year experience working as a poison information provider/specialist in poison information required OR graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program OR graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program with a minimum of one year poison center experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required unless candidate meets all of the factors to qualify for Exception A or Exception B*.
  • Ability to perform prolonged mental concentration to read and gather information required.
  • Skill in typing and use of computer required.
  • Ability to perform complex math calculations required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and health care professionals required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including night, weekend, and holiday shifts as assigned required.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Registered Pharmacist in the state of Nebraska required.
  • Required to take the American Association of Poison Control Centers Certification Exam for Specialists in Poison Information (CSPI) when eligible and required to pass the exam within three administrations after meeting the eligibility criteria.
  • Maintenance of certification by successfully completing the CSPI examination every seven years required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide informational assistance by telephone to health care professionals and consumers about poison exposures.
  • Obtain complete histories, assess poisoning severity, and make appropriate treatment recommendations.
  • Refer patients to health care facilities as necessary and contact health care providers to provide treatment recommendations for referred patients.
  • Act as a clinical information resource by training and mentoring students and colleagues.
Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school/college of nursing preferred.

Nebraska Medicine's new Omaha health clinic designed by LEO A DALY. Nebraska Medicine has announced its newest facility, a four-story health clinic that has been designed by LEO A DALY. The nearly 100,000 SF midtown Omaha health center will hold the hospital system's dermatology program, as well as outpatient GI, behavioral health services and general internal medicine. The building is scheduled to open in September 2027. (KMTV) - Nebraska Medicine is preparing to open a new primary health center in Bennington, bringing expanded health care access to the growing corridor near 156th and State. Before the location officially opens, neighbors are invited to get a first look at what it has to offer this Saturday. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., visitors can tour the clinic, meet staff, and enjoy a few fun activities. Nebraska Medicine will celebrate with community leaders in a private ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday afternoon, and the clinic will open to the the public on Monday, March 9. The facility will be open for appointments Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
