Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent, or a bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a minimum of 3 years of relevant and progressive experience related to the listed duties.
  • Ability to navigate and move around a construction site, including walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and standing for extended periods on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to handle tools and equipment and perform tasks requiring coordination and manual skills.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand and sit for periods longer than 30 minutes but not more than two hours consecutively.
  • Ability to learn complex tasks and remember how to complete them without assistance after training.
  • Ability to control behavior during stressful situations or short deadlines and maintain a high level of concentration.
  • Quick thinking and decision-making ability to address issues and challenges during construction.
  • Endurance to work in various weather conditions and handle the physical demands of supervising a construction project.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and ability to enforce safety standards on the construction site.
  • Adherence to personal protective equipment requirements, including hard hats, safety vests, and steel-toed boots.
Responsibilities
  • Establish a strong safety culture at the construction job site and monitor contractors, subcontractors, and employees for adherence to safety regulations and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction project activities to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost-tracking reports.
  • Inspect and review projects for compliance with construction documents, building and safety codes, and other regulations.
  • Inspect and review projects for compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities related to the construction or maintenance of structures, facilities, or systems.
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
  • Investigate damage, safety incidents, and delays at construction sites to ensure proper construction procedures are followed.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Develop or implement quality-control programs.
