Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification are required.
  • Annual Bloodborne Pathogens training and YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training are required.
  • Successful completion of YMCA background screening requirements and compliance with association background-screening policies are required.
  • The position may require ongoing training toward YMCA Leader Certification.
Responsibilities
  • Handle service-desk responsibilities for members and guests, including guest tours, cancellation requests, phone and in-person information requests, facility access control, program registration and enrollment, and basic computer entry.
  • Serve as the primary information resource for branch programs, activities, merchandise, and general communications.
  • Build engaging relationships with members and help move their experience from casual to connected to committed to the YMCA mission.
  • Provide customer service to families, guests, staff, and the community.
  • Communicate the YMCA mission and philosophy to staff, members, and guests, including sharing personal YMCA experiences and mission stories.
  • Handle questions, concerns, and needs received at the front desk, including telephone inquiries, email inquiries, tours, front-desk interactions, service-area collaboration, and registration packets.
  • Respond to member needs, proactively solve member problems, and direct members to appropriate resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of Parent Handbook policies, Association and Branch standard operating procedures, and branch programs and activities.
  • Ensure family registrations and related data entry are complete and accurate.
  • Assist with center tours, including setup, as needed.
  • Collect and enter payments and attendance into DAXKO.
  • Partner with parents to address questions and concerns.
  • Maintain children’s files and licensing compliance, including required signatures, information, health records, and other jurisdiction-required certifications.
  • Maintain building and member/guest security by requiring parents to sign children in and out and requiring visitors to present picture identification.
  • Maintain an organized and current welcome area.
  • Greet members by name with a smile and eye contact.
  • Maintain knowledge of programs and activities and engage members accordingly.
  • Introduce parents and families to one another.
  • Maintain a clean, welcoming facility atmosphere and a positive attitude.
  • Ensure communicated and displayed information is current and accurate.
  • Provide email communications to families regarding center information, including newsletters, weekly reminders, and openings and closings.
  • Keep bulletin boards current and presentable.
  • Support events for prospects, families, and guests, including open houses, art shows, and concerts.
  • Book vendors and special guests and ensure payments are made and purchase orders and payments are handled.
  • Perform branch purchasing and reporting functions.
  • Provide accurate food counts to the caterer to ensure appropriate meals and snacks for children.
  • Maintain kitchen-supply inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Order classroom supplies for the center.
  • Submit monthly ELC reports.
  • Ensure ASQ assessments are completed on time.
  • Support YMCA program goals at the branch and organization-wide.
  • Substitute in classrooms as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
