Requirements
  • A Doctor of Medicine degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Board certification and/or eligibility in Hematology and/or Oncology is required.
  • Certification in the relevant specialty or field is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience is required.
  • The ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships is required.
  • The ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment is required.
  • The ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines is required.
  • The ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion is required.
  • The ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary is required.
  • The incumbent must attend continuing educational offerings to increase knowledge and expertise.
  • The incumbent must maintain confidentiality of patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care to patients based on proper documentation in the medical record and assignments based on educational discipline, expertise, or experience.
  • Develop and carry out comprehensive medical treatment plans addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural domains.
  • Perform physical assessments of patients in a logical and respectful manner.
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
  • Gather essential and accurate information through pertinent records and interviews with patients, family members, caregivers, and other health professionals.
  • Report to the responsible physician and comply with policy co-signature requirements.
  • Report hazardous or unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, and supply or instrumentation inadequacies to appropriate personnel.
  • Report all quality assurance incidents, including medication errors, to the responsible physician using department guidelines.
  • Make informed decisions about interventions based on patient information and preferences, current scientific evidence, and clinical judgment.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
  • Serve as an instructor and attending physician in the Division of Medical Oncology.
  • Provide outpatient care under the supervision of senior faculty with expertise in treating and managing malignant cancers.
  • Provide on-call coverage and weekend rotations.
  • Focus on treating malignant cancers, including participation in research protocols leading to peer-reviewed publications and funded clinical trials.
  • Develop novel clinical and translational protocols for treating patients with oncological malignancies.
